Chapter 55
There was something about the man in the magazine that made my heart swell with
emotions. His eyes, staring straight at me, made my breath hitch in my throat. His eyes were the clearest blue I’d ever seen. Staring into their depths felt as though I was looking into a beautiful lagoon. There was something in his sultry gaze that made a woman think of paradise, adventures, and bliss.
I swallowed deeply as my eyes wandered over the man’s chiseled features. Though it was nearly impossible, I felt as if I had met him before in the flesh.

“I see you like him, do you?” Cassandra grinned playfully when she caught the blush on my cheeks. She paused mixing her ingredients in a bowl and made a face. “I like him too; however, he is already married,” she added with a sigh.
“Greyson Gabriel Bradford recently married Natalia Romani. If I’m not mistaken, it
happened just three days ago. It was a shotgun wedding. I briefly saw it on television, but I
didn’t finish watching it because I didn’t like the woman he married. I don’t know if it’s
just me, but I could see her oozing with negative energy.” Cassandra shrugged her
shoulders and resumed mixing her ingredients in the bowl.
He’s married, I thought to myself with a sudden intense disappointment. Even if I never
knew the man, the news that he was married made my shoulders sag. Maybe he was my
celebrity crush before I lost my memory, and that explains why I felt so down at the knowledge that he was bound to another woman now.
“Arggg! Remembering Grey Bradford is married has destroyed my mood,” Cassandra said in exasperation. “My childhood crush is gone! He married Medusa!” she added with irritation. Seeing the pissed expression on her face, a shadow of a smile appeared on my lips. Cass was no doubt a die–hard fan of the handsome billionaire.
“Natalia Romani is very pretty and has a body to die for, but I never liked her, though.”
“Because she took away the man you admired?” I asked her, concealing the smile on my lips while meeting her gaze.

“No. That’s just a silly reason. Grey and Natalia had been childhood sweethearts, and they decided to get married. However, Natalia jilted Grey at the altar. She left him for her modeling career in Paris,” Cassandra replied grimly.
Finally finished mixing all the ingredients, she grabbed the molder from the counter and shaped her cookies into different forms. When she finished, she took the molded cookies and placed them on a baking sheet before putting them inside the oven.
I shifted my attention back to the magazine in my hand. After turning a few pages, I finally found a picture of Natalia Romani.
The moment I laid eyes on her picture, something flashed in my memory, but I abruptly pulled to a stop as a scene flashed in my thoughts. Before I could have a closer look, it faded almost as fast as it had arrived.
The woman staring at me in the magazine was labeled as the siren who captured the demigod’s heart.
Describing Natalia as beautiful was an understatement. She was a breathtaking beauty, almost goddess–like. She had fiery red curls that bounced enigmatically on her shoulders every time her head moved. Her deep–set eyes were so perfect it was as though a skilled sculptor had made them.
She was too beautiful, but Cassandra was right. There was something sinister about the woman. She was oozing with too much negative energy.
I set the magazine aside after I grew tired of it. But even after putting it aside, Grey Bradford and Natalia Romani still occupied my mind.
“The cookies are ready!” Cassandra exclaimed, her cheerful voice jolting me out of my deep thoughts.
After pulling the cookies from the oven, Cassandra let them cool down before placing them inside her picnic basket. She cleaned up first, and I helped her even though she insisted she could do it on her own.

Minutes later, after we finished cleaning the kitchen, we emerged from the bungalow
house for a walk on the seashore.
The soft wind caressed my face the moment I stepped outside. I closed my eyes as I savored
the moment. When Cassandra called my name, I opened my eyes and followed her to the
shore.
Cassandra spread a cloth on the sand, and we sat down on it, starting to consume her
homemade cookies while watching the sunset from the horizon.
While we ate, she continued to tell me about her life. I learned that she worked as an
assistant in a large flower shop. Besides that, she was an on–call housekeeper in a business
inn.
I admired Cassandra’s personality. She was a very hardworking and honest woman. It was such a shame that a jerk of a man broke her heart and left her with a mountain of debt. I
would like to see that man who hurt her and then punch him hard in the face. That way, he might regain some sense. How could he break such a delicate and fragile woman?
