Billionaire's Pregnant Ex-wife novel Chapter 56

Chapter 56

I’m really sorry to put you in this ordeal, Heart. If only I could do this on my own, you wouldn’t be in a difficult situation,Cassandra said apologetically in a hoarse whisper. Her desperation showed in her teary red eyes.

You don’t have to apologize,I replied, gently pushing her back to the bed when she tried to get up. Let’s not forget that it’s all my fault you ended up with the flu. You haven’t had a decent sleep since you’ve been watching over me in the hospital for weeks. I also bet that you’re not eating well because you’re worrying over your financial problems and, above all, worrying about my condition.

Cassandra didn’t reply. Instead, she sighed and closed her eyes. Glad that she finally stopped struggling to get up, I straightened and surveyed her room for a medicine kit if she had any. Her room was neat and organized; it didn’t take me long to spot the white plastic box on top of her dresser labeled MEDICINE KIT.

I grabbed the plastic box and looked for medicine for her flu. Upon finding what I was looking for, I returned it to its exact position.

I hastily went to the kitchen to pick up a glass of water, and when I returned to Cassandra’s

room, I found her in the same position I left her. Just when I thought she had fallen asleep,

she opened her eyes and looked at me.

I really want to go, Heart. I hate this flu for ruining what should be a promising day for me,she whispered, her already teary eyes reddened with tears. I’m sorry for throwing you into this ordeal.

Don’t worry about me. I’m fine with this. In fact, I’m glad to get out of the house. It might help me recover my memories. Just focus on recovering so I won’t be worried while I’m away.

I handed Cassandra the medicine and the glass of water. She took the medicine and drank some water. When she finished, I took the empty glass from her hand.

I’ll cook breakfast for you before leaving. I don’t want you to cook while you’re not feeling

well.

You don’t have to,Cassandra told me as she adjusted her pillow before resting her head on it. I’ll just order food online. Besides, you don’t have time left. The company car will be here soon to pick you up.

You have twenty minutes left, so get ready already if you don’t want to be late. You still have to clean your wound, and that will take extra time, she added.

I skittered to the door, but before I could get out, Cassandra called out from behind me, Don’t forget the white floral dress in my closet. You won’t be able to enter the Fleur De Lis

Hotel unless you wear it.

Opening her closet, I immediately found the dress. Before turning to the door, I threw Cassandra a quick glance and found her resting with her eyes now closed.

Convincing myself that she’ll be alright, I retreated to my room to prepare. After taking a quick bath, I cleaned my wound in the small bathroom and replaced the dressing. When I

finished, I put on my undergarments and clothes.

Cassandra’s dress fit my body like a glove. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and

smiled. The dress was beautiful, and the offshoulder lantern sleeves made it appear even more elegant. It was slim in the middle, making my waist look smaller. The hem of the dress barely reached halfway down my thighs, showcasing my long legs to their advantage.

I brushed my hair until there were no tangles left. Since I didn’t have enough time to

completely dry it with the hairdryer, I let it loose to dry on its own.

After checking the time on the wall clock and realizing Cassandra’s company car would be here soon to pick me up, I rushed to her room to borrow one of her sandals.

My shoes are on the rack,Cassandra told me when she saw me enter the room. I think

we have the same shoe size. You can choose any shoe you want; however, the light pink one would look best with your dress, in my opinion.

I didn’t waste time looking for shoes to wear and simply grabbed the light pink ones since they looked comfortable and were only three inches tall. Without a moment’s delay, I put them on and turned to Cassandra.

How do I look?I asked her.

Damn good!Cassandra chuckled. “I wouldn’t be surprised if a rich, goodlooking man grabs you from the hotel and takes you home. She added. A slow, admiring smile curled on her lips as she eyed me from head to toe.

Your face looks kind of pale, though. Just put some light makeup on, and you’re ready to go.Cassandra said, and when I surveyed my face closely in her vanity mirror, I realized she was right.

I borrowed Cassandra’s lipstick and applied it to my lips. Even after lightly applying it, the

finished look still seemed too intense for me. So I rubbed my lips with my forefinger to

lighten the color until I was satisfied with the result. Afterwards, I pressed my stained

fingers on my cheeks to create a blush to conceal my paleness.

My eyes looked kind of sleepy, so I applied mascara to my lashes to make them pop. When I

finished, I turned to Cassandra, and she gave me a thumbs up.

You’re going to make a number of women jealous today, she told me gleefully, and I

thought she was just exaggerating.

The beep of a car outside the house told me the service car was already here.

I bid Cassandra goodbye, and she told me to take care before I hurried to the door.

The Fleur De Lis Hotel stood proud and sparkling under the picturesque blue sky. Every

single thing inside the hotel screamed luxury.

It was still early and the party hadn’t started yet, but the spacious foyer of the hotel was starting to fill up with guests all wearing their bestpicked attire.
