You are acting weird, Christina,” Grey told her without bothering to hide the irritation in his voice. He gave her a look that made any employee quiver in fear. As expected, the staff paled under her skin. At the same time, beads of sweat formed on her temples despite the cold temperature inside the room. Her lips began to tremble as though she wanted to burst into tears, but she managed to pull herself together and looked him straight in the eye.
“You’re not allowed to enter the comfort room,” she told him calmly. Her remark only
made the frown on his forehead deepen in irritation.
Christina was acting strangely. He noticed her weird behavior the moment he entered the office. He had a feeling she was keeping something from him. His instincts had never been
wrong.
“And why am I not allowed to use the comfort room? Are you hiding something there?” he
confronted her, and something that resembled fear crossed her eyes.
Opening her mouth, she tried to reason with him, but no words emerged from her lips, which only made his suspicions grow. Was she hiding something from him? Was her lover inside, or was it someone he was not supposed to see? The very thought made him even more curious to open the door and see what was inside.
Grey took a step forward, but she purposely blocked his path. He turned left, and she took a sideward step to block him. When he turned right, she did the same, shielding the door
with her body as though her life depended on it.
“Christina!” he growled. There was nothing gentle about his voice.
Despite the fear looming behind her eyes, she refused to move. “There’s something inside you should not see,” she explained, her voice trembling.
“Something inside I should not see?” Grey repeated, amusement dancing in his eyes as he looked at her. “Are you keeping your lover inside? The management should know about this,” he said gravely and began to walk away to report her.

Christina let out a yelp and jumped to her feet. “No, Sir! I don’t have a lover, and I’m not keeping anyone inside!” She blurted out, panic shining in her bright blue eyes.
He paid her no attention and continued to walk toward the main door of the office. However, Christina quickly blocked his way before he could reach the door and report her to the management.
“My lover and I broke up a month ago after I found him in bed with another guy! I vowed to God and everything I hold sacred that I’m telling the truth! If you report me to the management, I will lose my job.”
“Got you!” Grey told her. He took quick, retreating steps. Within seconds, he was already in front of the comfort room, reaching for the knob.
“You tricked me, Mr. Greyson!” Christina told him, betrayal in her voice.
Ignoring her, he slowly turned the knob and stopped. It was locked from the inside.
“I forgot to tell you I closed the door on purpose and forgot to take the key from the front desk,” she finally informed him, recovering her lost composure.
“Explain everything to me, Christina, or else I will report you to the management for your misdemeanor. They could fire you once I tell them to do so,” he threatened menacingly.
“I want to be honest with you; there is indeed something inside that you’re not supposed to see. As a woman, I’m embarrassed to say this, but…”
“But what?”
“Er–Mrs. Elizabeth used the bathroom earlier,” she told him, her cheeks turning tomato red in embarrassment. “A problem occurred, and the toilet won’t flush. There’s still a UFO in the toilet,” she explained after a moment of pause.

“A UFO?” Grey repeated incredulously. He stared at her as though she had lost her mind.
“Yes, Sir. It’s short for Unidentified Floating Object in the toilet. Miss Elizabeth asked me to clean the toilet for her because she can’t do it on her own. However, before I could clean it,

the new owner of La Paraiso Hotel arrived, and I locked the door from the inside so no one
could enter,” she explained.
“You mean there’s poop in the toilet?”
Christina nodded her head.
Grey looked a little embarrassed, but he gradually relaxed as he understood the reason for her weird behavior. “You should have told me that from the start,” he said in a lecturing
tone.
“I’m sorry, Sir,” she whispered, her head bowed.

“Well then, I will leave the office so you can start cleaning,” he told her.
“Thank you, Sir!” Her face brightened, and she looked relieved, as though a huge weight
had been lifted off her chest.
True to his words, he walked out of the office, filling his lungs with the sweet scent of floral
perfume that still lingered in the air. Gently, he closed the door behind him and traversed
the long, arched hallways in silence.
Even though he was already out of the office, his mind was still in it. A question continued
to bother him: ‘Was he just imagining things, or did he see Lily standing by the window?‘
He heaved a deep sigh, knowing it might be just his eyes playing a trick on him. Lily had been dead for a year. It must be her ghost haunting him a while ago.
Pushing thoughts of his dead ex–wife out of his mind, he entered the restroom he found in the hallway. After relieving himself, he made a beeline straight to the parking area where
his car was waiting.
Maneuvering the car out of the hotel, he pressed the accelerator.
Instead of going home, which was what he initially planned, he bought two bouquets of fresh white roses on his way and visited Lily and his son’s grave.

He missed them both, he thought to himself, well aware of the deep, hollow emptiness inside him that no one could fill except the two of them.
If only he hadn’t lost them, his life could have been different… much happier…
After spending some time in the cemetery, he left and headed straight home.

The sun was just sinking into the horizon when there was a soft knock on his door. He was
inside his office, reading some important documents to make use of his time when it
happened. He lifted his gaze to the door. “Come in,” he said.
The door opened, and a servant came inside.
“You have an important letter, Mr. Bradford,” the servant informed him, placing a pink
