Rose listened but seemed to be deep in thoughts.
It was true that the Grays were reputable and rich, but compared to them, the Grays were far lower down the ladder.
David was the person to extend his hand gentlemanly "My pretty lady, may I introduce myself…"
The whole room was surprised. Really? Are they interested in someone like Sophia Gray? She's nobody compared to them.
The women in the room were flaming with jealousy as well as resentment.
Sophia was overwhelmed. She gazed at David as she held out her hand. "I know you. You are David Parker?" ‘Am I dreaming? Is David Parker really speaking to me? Perhaps they have finally noticed my beauty! All of them. My god. This is amazing! The money on this dress is very well spent! Though it was a lot of money, it was surely worth it.’ Sophia screamed in excitement in her head.
She had completely forgotten about the incident at the jewelry shop earlier as she proudly recovered.
David placed a kiss on Sophia's hand and gave her a bright smile "Ah, you know my name. I'm flattered."
The crowd was bombarding Sophia with bitter looks.
Who does she think she is? How does she deserve David’s attention? Is it because of that stupid dress she's wearing?
Despite the piercing glares Sophia was receiving she was more elated and excited that her face was burning.
Each gentleman introduced themselves, and soon they started chatting and joking together with Sophia. Their honey-sweet words delighted her tremendously while the attention from the jealous spectators satisfied her egoistic need immensely.
‘Hehe! Now that I've won these men's attention, I must be the most desirable woman in Los Angeles, if not the entire California as well.’
Meanwhile, seeing how things were unfolding, she moved away, wittingly, and watched in silence.
‘A group of dumb, dull and smug idiots. What a great social gathering.’
She saw through their intentions from the start. Though she didn't see the point of it, she rather enjoyed staying away from it and watching.
Alex was still seated in his seat as he watched what was happening in front of him. He indifferently and glanced at Rose occasionally.
