Blind date turned proposal (Josie and Dexter) novel Chapter 1146

Arnold was seated in the main seat, with a strikingly gorgeous yet decadent woman nestled by his side. The woman was none other than Summer.

She was pouring the wine from the bottle directly into her mouth.

Josie walked in, silencing the blaring music with a press of a button. Instantly, the private room fell into a hush, and all eyes were on her.

Arnold finally looked up, scrutinizing Josie's overly plain attire. “What are you doing? The medicine I gave you can still be taken for a few more days.”

Josie shook her head. “I'm not looking for you.”

She then pointed at Summer and said, “I'm here for her.”

Summer finally seemed to snap back to reality, her face full of disdain. Seeing Josie didn't surprise her at all. “You... Oh! Josie... Wait, no. It's Liana. Do you need something from me?”

Josie grabbed Summer's wrist and pulled her straight out, ignoring the clamor in the private room.

Summer felt weak and limp, leaning against the wall. “What do you want? If you have something to say, just say it. I'm annoyed just by seeing you.”

“Do you think I wanted to see you?” Josie got straight to the point. “What did you say to Edward when you met him today?”

So she came to me to ask about that? Summer scoffed and said, “You're using my reputation to get things done. Of course, I should satisfy you. Want to know? Go find out yourself.”

“I did want to investigate, but sadly, I'm not as fortunate as you. I've accomplished nothing, yet you seem to be blessed by the heavens, thriving wherever you go.” Josie moved closer to Summer. “But I have a question. How long can one truly prosper by using their charms to manipulate others?”

Those words did not infuriate Summer. She lit a cigarette and still managed to smile. “I also wish to be like you, to have a reputable name, to have a man who loves me. But ask yourself, are you truly living a good life now?”

Seeing Josie's face stiffen, Summer pushed her away. “I didn't expect you to come back.”

“I never expected you to still be with Arnold.”

“A woman who should have been widowed was seen with a man bearing a striking resemblance to her deceased husband. If the media were to capture this, they would certainly make a big story out of it.”

Summer was not afraid in the slightest. “Josie, you should know where you are. This is Rivodia, not Wavery.”

Josie was so angry that her whole body was trembling. Summer took a puff of her cigarette and asked, “Are you feeling unwell? I can have someone take you home.”
