Blind date turned proposal (Josie and Dexter) novel Chapter 1205

The sound of the sea gently lapping filled Josie's ears. She wanted to escape, to cover her ears, but she was powerless to do so.

She was entirely engulfed by the rushing water, on the verge of gasping for breath in the next second. Her body yearned to collapse from exhaustion, yet she was restrained by chains.

“Josie.” A distant voice suddenly echoed, rousing Josie from her daze.

With great difficulty, she forced her eyes open. She saw several overlapping images before her, which, after a long while, slowly coalesced into a single figure. The person was Josephine.

“Why are you here?” Josie asked, her voice weak and devoid of energy.

“I've done my research. You are Robyn, no, Arnold's romantic encounter in Wavery two years ago. You're quite a spectacle of a woman. No wonder you had the audacity to bet with me just now.”

She crouched above the water dungeon, her head bowed as she intently observed Josie's agonized and miserable state.

Josie's attention was diverted. She let out a scoff. “Ms. Yowell, do you think you've won?”

“You're trapped here now, so how could I have not won?”

Josie continued to laugh. “Even though that bullet hit my leg, he did pull the trigger, Ms. Yowell. At that moment, he didn't consider your safety.”

Josephine's smile faltered for a moment but she quickly recomposed herself. “That was because he knew you wouldn't pull the trigger.”

“He knows me very well.”

“So, why— The two women locked eyes, and Josephine abruptly stopped talking.

Regardless of how that matter was viewed, Josie hadn't lost. Knowing each other well enough was a form of tacit understanding.

Josephine was still unwilling to admit defeat. “What you're trying to tell me is that he doesn't love me but loves you instead? However, just a moment ago, he was honest with me about everything. At the very least, I'm willing to believe him. Don't flatter yourself too much. Mind your own business. Being too full of oneself never ends well.”

Initially, Josie assumed Josephine was nothing more than a naive young lady who had been deceived. However, it turned out that Josephine was far from innocent. Even if she was being fooled, she still chose to be with Arnold.

“You're really...” Josie let out a laugh. “Did he tell you about his past? Do you know how many families he's torn apart and how many people he's hurt?”

Josie raised an eyebrow. It seems like this young lady has been successfully brainwashed.

Josephine was taken aback. She's right. She never loved him, so why am I competing with her?

It seems that Arnold hasn't actually told her everything, at least not about me. He hasn't come clean. Josie moved her neck slightly. “For my own sake.”

“I don't believe it,” said Josephine. She was no fool. There's no way she took such a huge risk simply for this reason.
