“Dexter returned the stuff we gave to him.”

Josie was utterly surprised. “Why was it returned? Are you sure he received it?”

Ryan glanced at her, hesitating to speak.

“What he meant was, he didn't need your help. He would find another way out. He only had one condition for returning these.”

Ryan pursed his lips. “Don't make things difficult for Josie.”
