Blind date turned proposal (Josie and Dexter) novel Chapter 798

Chapter 798 Announcing Divorce

Some people held such immense power that they could accomplish many things without having to step in personally.

For instance, a week later, Josie received the divorce certificate delivered by Larry. The small, formal booklet declared that she and Dexter no longer had any connection.

“Mrs… Ms. Warren, Mr. Russell has stated that the terms of the divorce agreement will not change. The assets listed will be transferred to your name at an appropriate time. The Russell Group projects that you managed before the divorce will still be under your supervision.”

Josie was absentmindedly caressing the booklet with a dazed expression as the man spoke.

“Ms. Warren?”

“I understand.” Josie smiled a little and said, “Thank you. Mr. Peeple.”

That day, the news of Dexter’s divorce from Josie dominated the top trending topic on social media. Russell Group’s official account released a statement saying that the couple divorced due to incompatible personalities and hoped that the public would not speculate too much.

Many people were shocked that they really got a divorce.

Some people expected it, claiming personality clashes were nothing more than an excuse.

Meanwhile, at the top floor of Russell Group, Dexter was entertaining an old friend. The tea he brewed was his friend’s favorite.

“There’s a Clusia proverb,” Zachariah said with a hint of amusement, “that goes ‘requite evil with good. It’s talking about you.”

Dexter calmly extended a hand, clean and fair, with evenly distributed flesh and straight joints. His palm was faced downward as he ignored the words spoken to him.

“Have any of the four major domestic banks received loan applications under the name Arnold Carter?”

“No,” Zachariah replied. “But I can’t say the same for the banks abroad. What if he joins forces with Josie? What will happen to Russell Group then? If I were you, I would have signed a prenuptial agreement.”

Before, Dexter had paved the way for Josie by introducing her to many of his friends, and Zachariah was fortunate enough to have met her once.

And now, what Zachariah hadn’t expected was that Dexter would leave Russell Group’s most promising project to Josic!

If she truly had an affair with Arnold, coupled with the Carter Group’s covetousness, Dexter would have a hard time handling everything alone.

Dexter slightly raised his eyebrows, his palm facing upward and his tone indifferent. “She won’t.”

He then tossed over a document. “Don’t worry about my personal matters.”

Zachariah understood the implications. He flipped through the documents, quite astonished. “You want to short the Carter Group’s stocks?”

Dexter didn’t respond. He withdrew his hand and put his glasses back on, making him look even more like a refined yet decadent man. “I need your cooperation.”

“If someone finds out that you’re targeting the Carter Group at this critical juncture, the matter could be blown out of proportion by the media, which wouldn’t be good for your reputation.”

Dexter suddenly retorted, “So, by that logic, if it came out that the Carter Group is backed by foreign. capital, what do you think the public opinion would be?”

“You…”

What else would happen?
