Allison looked at her silently, unfazed by her sudden explosion.
“What’s worse? Lawrence is a public figure. He is involved for the litigant has his bank card and gets interrogated by police because of this. Do you know how serious his reputation would be affected by this?”
“I didn’t do what you were claiming!” Charlotte screamed at Allison without paying heed to her explanation.
She looked at Lawrence with teary eyes as she said with cracking voice, “He’s not my man. Besides you, I don’t hook up with another man. He is… He is…”
How would she be able to tell him the truth? How would she dare to tell him the truth?
“Who is he? Why do you stop talking?”
Lawrence inched towards her and spoke in a voice only the two of them could hear. He said this with venom, “Charlotte, you make me feel even more sick that in the past.”
She felt something register in her heart, and she reached out subconsciously, wanting to hold his hand, but she was being swatted away.
“Don’t touch me, dirty woman.”
Lawrence glanced at her coldly before turning to face Allison, “Ignore her.”
Allison nodded and settled herself naturally into his arms. Before she left, she eyed Charlotte meaningfully.
“Miss Garcia, the man involved in the accident is still being rescued. We are not interested in his identity. We just hope that you don’t do anything derogatory to Lawrence’s reputation.”
Charlotte watched them walking away, and there was a nauseating pain in her heart.
It seemed that God always liked joking her. Every time when she almost got out of the trouble, God pulled her back!
However, Evelyn had only given her half a month time. She wouldn’t have any opportunity anymore…
Like a drowning person forced to the further recesses of the water, she longed for the last straw of hope. Her mind replayed the words spoken by Victoria and Ethan.
“Lotta, you need to tell Lance the truth. Trust me, he will help you.”
“Sis, brother Lance will help you, go look for him, go now…”
