“Yeah.” Sean looked inside, and sure enough, he didn’t see Gwen. 

He asked reluctantly, “Isn’t Gwen here?” 

Caroline asked in response, “Why would she be here?” 

Sean was silent.

“Don’t tell me you’re here to see her?” Caroline asked, holding back a smile. 

Sean stammered, “N–No…” 

“Oh, so you don’t want to see her. It’s a good thing I didn’t call her.” 

“You’re going to call her?” 

“Yeah, but since you don’t want to see her, I’d better not call her.” 

“Don’t!” Sean panicked, but when he saw Caroline smiling, he realized he had been tricked. 

He laughed. “Not bad, Caroline. It’s true that birds of the same feather flock together. You’ve become as evil as Kirk after getting so close to him.” 

Caroline’s face turned red at his words. She lowered her head and said bashfully, “As if I’m close to him! All right, I’m going to check on the pork stew.” Then, she turned around and entered the kitchen. 

Kirk wanted to follow her, but Sean grabbed him. 

“Kirk-” 

Kirk massaged his forehead before tossing Sean his phone. 

Sean caught it, and by the time he returned to his senses, Kirk had already strode into the kitchen. He wanted to follow him, but Kirk heartlessly closed the kitchen door on him. 

“What an inhumane jerk.” He complained in his heart. 

Then, he stared at Kirk’s phone, finally understanding his intentions. He turned on Kirk’s phone and texted Gwen to come over for dinner as Kirk. 

When Gwen saw the message from Kirk, she agreed immediately. Sean took a long breath when

tightly from behind. The strength in those arms startled her. “Kirk.” 

“Yes?” 

“Let go of me. I’m cooking.” 

“No I won’t let you go, ever.” Kirk hugged Caroline tightly, resting his chin on her shoulder, 

As he inhaled her sweet scent, he said again, “Darling, I will never let you go, not for the rest of my 

life.” 

Caroline slightly pursed her lips. “Not for the rest of your life, you say? Are you planning to tie us 

together or something?” 

“Sure.” Kirk kissed Caroline’s ear. “I’ll buy a large chain and bind the two of us together. That way, we won’t be separated, no matter what happens.” 

“You’re really insane, Kirk,” Caroline scolded with a smile. 

“Come on, get out of here. Sean is still waiting outside.”
