Caroline didn’t know how long had passed before Kirk finally let her go. But the lingering effects 

of his kiss sull didn’t fade. 

Her face became increasingly warm, and her heart pounded like it was about to burst out of her 

chest. She felt an all–too–familiar flutter in her chest. 

As she listened to the rapid pounding of her heart, she knew she had fallen into Kirk’s hands. 

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Caroline was about to open the door when she heard Sean’s voice outside. “I’ll get it!” He sounded excited as if a distinguished had arrived. 

After punching Kirk in embarrassment, Caroline mused, “Who’s here?” Who could make Sean this 

excited? 

Kirk looked at Caroline with a bright smile. 

Caroline’s legs turned to jelly from what she saw. His gaze was too direct. He was being so blunt that she could tell what he wanted. 

“We still have guests here.” Caroline reminded Kirk not to mess around and pushed him. However, Kirk still planted kisses on her lips. 

Then, they heard Gwen’s surprised voice outside. “What are you doing here?” 

Only then did Caroline realize that Gwen was here. She pushed Kirk away and walked out of the kitchen. “You’re here, Gwen!” 

Gwen was still standing outside the door, looking at Sean warily. “Yeah, Kirk texted me. He asked 

me to come over.” 

Caroline looked behind at Kirk, who was walking out of the kitchen. 

Kirk looked calm as he answered smoothly, “Yeah, I invited her over. The more, the merrier. Right, darling?” 

Caroline agreed, “Of course. Come in, Gwen. I’ve bought a lot of food.” 

“Of course I know that,” Gwen muttered. 

After a moment’s hesitation, she walked into Caroline’s home. “Let me help you.”

“Sure Caroline dragged Gwen into the kitchen. 

As soon as they entered the kitchen, Gwen quickly asked Caroline, “What the hell, Carol? You 

didn’t tell me Sean was going to be here. I wouldn’t have come if I knew he was here” 

Caroline smiled merrily at her words, throwing the vegetables into the sink. “I didn’t know Kirk 

invited you.” 

“Oh, you’re smiling so brightly! Did you make up already?” 

“You’re so annoying.” 

Caroline shyly said while washing the vegetables, “We’re talking about you right now. Why did you change the subject?” 

“There’s nothing left to talk about. I support your decision to make up with Kirk, but that doesn’t mean I should make up with Sean, too.” 

Caroline put the washed vegetables on the table and turned around. 

Noticing Caroline’s actions, Gwen said hurriedly, “Hey, don’t try to convince me otherwise. I won’t give the relationship another try, not even if a king orders me.” 

“I’m not going to do that.” Caroline passed the vegetables to her. 

“I just want to tell you that since you have no intentions of being in a relationship with him, just 

treat him as a friend.” 

“Fine. I won’t make things difficult for you.”
