Jane’s voice came from behind Caroline, making the latter shiver. 

Caroline turned her head, intent on fighting back. However, she didn’t have an ounce of energy in her body. 

The bodyguard shot Caroline a glare. As he was about to reach out and shove her over the edge, there was a sudden roaring noise from above them. 

The bodyguard looked up, only to see a helicopter flying over them like an eagle. 

Around them, the grass began to rustle violently. 

Jane couldn’t help but put a hand to her forehead and look up at the helicopter. 

The wind that had been whipped up blinded them. They could only vaguely see a tall figure jump smoothly from the ladder that hung from the helicopter. 

It was only when the helicopter flew far away and the surroundings regained their usual peace that everyone came back to themselves. 

“Kirk…” 

Caroline’s eyes turned red when she saw Kirk. Meanwhile, Daphne’s face had lost all its color. 

As for Jane, she had never met Kirk. So she didn’t know that this was the man her husband kept fawning over. 

She walked arrogantly before him and asked, “Who are you?” 

Kirk didn’t even look at her. He strode in large steps over to Caroline. 

The bodyguard who had been holding Caroline forgot what he was doing, awestruck by Kirk’s strong presence. 

He only snapped out of his trance once Kirk lifted Caroline up from the ground. He raised a hand and aimed a blow at Kirk’s shoulder. 

“Careful!” Before Caroline’s warning came out fully, Kirk had already kicked the bodyguard’s shin, quick as a lightning bolt.

The bodyguard hissed in pain. 

Everyone else also reacted. They quickly went forward and surrounded Kirk. 

Seeing this, Daphne quickly tugged on Jane’s arm. “Mrs. Collins, h–he’s…” 

“Who cares who he is?” Jane laughed coolly. 

“Playing the hero, is he? This isn’t a movie. It’s real ife. Dump them both off the mountain.” 

The second she said this, the blare of sirens came from below. 

Liam’s expression shifted. “Mrs. Collins, the police are here.” 

“I heard that!” Jane was enraged. 

“Throw them off now. Let’s go.” 

As she spoke, she turned and walked down a different path. 

Daphne hesitated as she looked at Caroline and Kirk, who were still completely surrounded. 

“Let’s go!” Jane pulled Daphne along. 

“If the police see you when they get here, you’ll never be able to claim you’re innocent.” 

In the blink of an eye, Jane had dragged Daphne over to the head of the path. 

Daphne looked back at where Kirk was once again. “Mrs. Collins…” 

Jane didn’t pay Daphne any attention. She ordered her bodyguards again, “Be quick. Handle this before the police get here.” 

Then, she rushed down the mountain. 

Liam followed swiftly behind. 

With that, only Caroline and Kirk were left up there. Them, and the bodyguards who surrounded them. 

Kirk placed Caroline on the ground and asked lowly, “Can you stand?” 

“I–I c–can…” Caroline tried to let go of Kirk’s arm.
