“Sir, she’s not upstairs either.” 

The police captain frowned as he looked at Howard. “Mr. Collins, may I ask where your wife is?” 

Howard replied, “I don’t know.” 

“Please cooperate with us in this investigation.” 

“I really don’t know.” 

“Then when was the last time you saw your wife?” 

“Yesterday.” Howard’s voice was trembling as he said this. 

“So you mean that she hasn’t been back since yesterday?” The police officer glanced at Howard. 

“Do you know what she went out to do yesterday?” 

“I don’t.” 

The second officer said, “Yesterday, your wife went out and abducted Ms. Caroline Evans…” 

Howard’s face paled at those words. 

Enraged, he raised his voice. “I told you that I don’t know anything I don’t! Do you have any proof? 

You’re just slandering her!” 

“We do have proof,” the policeman said calmly. 

“Yesterday, we arrested more than ten bodyguards under the Collins family’s employ. According 

to their statements, they were following your wife’s orders to cause harm to Ms. Evans-” 

“Stop talking!” Howard cut off the police officer in a rage. 

“Stop talking. I don’t know about any of this. I don’t know anything!” 

The police officer was silent as he regarded Howard for several minutes. 

Then, he waved a hand and said, “If that’s the case, we won’t disturb you here any further. If you 

have any news about your wife, please contact us immediately.”

Aiden’s voice brought a teetering Howard back to himself. He was agitated as he whirled his head around to stare at Kirk. 

“Mr. Kirk, I really don’t know anything about this.‘ 

Kirk’s gaze was dark and grim, like a churning sea at midnight. 

Howard was suffering immense pressure as he walked forward to stand before Kirk. As he approached Kirk, he felt a sense that his death was coming terrifyingly closer. 

Howard threw himself at Kirk’s feet, letting go of his pride. 

Kirk let out a short bark of laughter as he placed his hand on Howard’s head and pressed down with great force. 

Howard’s body was trembling. “Mr. Kirk …” 

“It seems you’ve forgotten the agreement between us completely.” 

“I haven’t!” Howard rushed to defend himself. 

He explained, “I really didn’t know about my wife and Ms. Evans. I really didn’t know… Mr. Kirk, please give me another chance. I will discipline my wife!” 

Kirk stood up and glared at Howard. “I came here today to tell you that our partnership is over.”
