Meanwhile, on the other side, at Quinn’s Villa —
Catrin was sitting in her study behind her desk. Her expression was hard, and her gaze was darker than the darkness of the night.
"Didn’t I ask you to keep your behaviour at its best?" The words came through the grit of her teeth.
Emily flinched. "Aunt Catrin, I —"
"I —what?" Catrin snapped, slamming her hand hard over the desk. "This is how you keep your behaviour at its best? But getting yourself banned from the top mall of the country?"
"Aunt Catrin, I didn’t mean to. I was —"
"You were —what?" Her tone was loud and threatening. "Ruining the name of Quinns? Do you even know what you have done?" Pointing at the screen, she continued, "You just didn’t get banned yourself, but you also revoked our, Quinn’s membership from the Sky Luxe Mall."
"Here, I was trying to boost your image in society, but what did you do?" Scoffing, she gave out a dark chuckle. "Just in a day, you ruined it all. After this, do you think you even deserve to be the heiress of the Quinn family?"
She questioned, and it sounded exactly like Emily’s fear come true.
She glanced up at Catrin, horrified. "No, no, no, Aunt Catrin," she cried desperately. "I know I did something really wrong. I shouldn’t have implicated Quinn’s name like that, but believe me, I had no idea things would turn out like that. Please forgive me. I would do anything that you would say, just don’t change your decision to adopt me."
"You think anything you do would change it?" Catrin was furious. If anything, she hated the most —it was being looked down upon. And today, that actually had happened.
And, it was all because of Emily —the girl she was merely using —the mere pawn of her hand.
"It can be changed, Aunt," Emily blurted out without even thinking. To be honest, at this point she was not thinking at all. All she was focused on was saving the situation for herself. And she was willing to do or say all that would help her in that.
So, when she said that ’it can be changed’, she meant to do everything and anything to make it right.
Catrin paused at that. Her brows knitted as she stared at the girl. "What do you mean?" she asked.
And Emily swallowed before nodding. "Yes, Aunt Catrin," she said, continuing immediately, "We can change this all, and everything will again turn to be fine. We just have to go to Arwen and —"
Before she could finish, Catrin’s interrupted, her brows knitting deeply at the mention of Arwen’s name. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Arwen!" she echoed, "What does she have to do in all this?"
"She has to do everything in this," Emily hissed agitatedly, still feeling wronged by how everything turned out towards the end. She shouldn’t be the one standing on the losing end, yet here she was fending for herself in the situation. "It’s all because of her. If not, nothing would have happened."
"Emily, don’t push your demerit on someone else. This won’t reduce it for you." Things might not be as favourable as before between her and Arwen, but she was still her daughter, and she knew her daughter better than anyone to know that Arwen would never do anything that would cause shame to Quinn’s reputation.
