Arwen didn’t realize when she started talking in the dream. She thought she was merely watching, but when her role interchanged, she didn’t realize it.
The young Arwen was long gone, and in place of her, who sat next to the boy, was her —watching the clouds with a big smile on her lips.
She only grasped everything when she heard the words leave her lips.
It stunned her as much as it could have, but more than that, what left her frozen was the face that appeared next in front of her eyes.
"Aiden!" she whispered his name out, only to see him smile back at her —the same gentle one that he always gave her. The only difference was that this time, his eyes weren’t holding the complaints but just the sparkles of pure amusement.
"Moon, —"
Arwen’s eyes shot open, waking up from the dream—or the memory of the past —whatever it was. She felt bewildered.
For a moment, she felt things making sense. But then the very next second, she felt it all absurd.
That boy in her dream has been a mystery to her. His face was never clear to her, so how come today, suddenly, the face that appeared in front of hers was none other’s but Aiden’s?
Was it her imagination? Or —
Her thoughts were interrupted when, in her ears, she heard his heartbeat resounding.
Since she had fallen asleep over Aiden’s chest, her consciousness only returned when she heard his heartbeat resonating close to her ears.
She registered the position in which she had earlier fallen asleep and slowly turned her head to look at Aiden.
His eyes were still closed, and given his even heartbeat, she knew he was still asleep. He looked weak, but his charm hadn’t diminished at all. She could stay watching him like this all morning, and she wouldn’t crave looking at anything else.
With her face resting on her hands over his chest, she was staring at him when suddenly something struck her. "The IV!" she gasped softly, her pupils dilating.
Sitting up straight, she turned to check and no longer found the needle attached to his hands; she heaved a sigh of relief.
Maybe while she was asleep, Mr. Jones or someone came and removed it on time.
But she chided herself for not being careful enough. How could she just fall asleep like that?
However, then so much has happened. She didn’t realize when her body gave up all its strength.
Her gaze returned to look back at Aiden’s face, and suddenly the dream flashed back. A smile dared to curl her lips up.
Could he really be the boy she had always seen in her dreams?
