Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 627

"No way, no way!"

Teresa yanked her arm back in a panic, quickly locked the door, and then spun around to stand in front of Hayes, clearly not willing to step outside with him to meet her father.

Hayes was utterly bewildered. "What's wrong? Why not?"

"My mom and dad got divorced once. It must have been because they fell out of love, that's why they split up! Dad won't just get back together with Mom because I'm his daughter!

So, if Dad finds out I'm his daughter, he's definitely going to fight Mom for custody! Then what am I supposed to do? Choose Mom, or choose Dad?"

Hayes paused, thought for a moment, but he didn't agree with Teresa's line of thinking.

He argued with reason, "I think... you're overthinking it. Dad and Aunt Marguerite's relationship isn't tense anymore! When Aunt Marguerite had that car accident... it was Dad who carried her back... and when I was in the hospital with Manley... they got along really well."

Teresa blinked, her little mind quickly replaying the interactions between her mom and dad in recent times.

Actually, it did seem quite harmonious.

Silently, she felt swayed by Hayes' words.

Seeing Teresa's stance soften, Hayes took the chance, unlocked the door, ready to take Teresa out, "Stop overthinking... Grab the paternity test and let's go find Dad! Dad adores you, and once he knows you're his daughter... he'll be over the moon!"

Teresa, hand in hand with Hayes, walked hesitantly to the door.

She was totally convinced!

But in a flash, another grave concern popped into her head.

"It won't work, Little Mute! I've got another worry! I can't tell Dad!"

Now Hayes was even more puzzled, "What worry?"

Teresa looked into Hayes' eyes, troubled. "If I tell you, you can't be upset, okay?"

The little guy furrowed his brow. Why would he be upset?

But Hayes didn't see it that way.

He loved Yuna, despite her harshness and scolding, because after all, she was his mother!

But love didn't mean he had to live with her.

Hayes longed to escape Yuna's tyranny and abuse, to live with Marguerite instead.

Even though Marguerite wasn't his biological mother, she treated him kindly, giving him a sense of maternal affection.

He liked staying with anyone who was nice to him.

As for his own mother, when he grew up, he'd take care of her in her old age.

Hayes had made up his mind, his eyes shining, "Teresa, I've never had second thoughts. I want... I want to live with you, Dad, and Marguerite. So, I will definitely help you..."
