Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 855

This was the first time Marguerite had ever seen him in a suit.

A mask covered the scars on his face, leaving only his bright, striking eyes and a slightly broad forehead visible.

The upper half of his face was undeniably handsome, and the black suit only emphasized his tall, commanding presence.

The confidence he exuded in a suit and tie was uncannily identical to Frederick’s.

It was hard to imagine that two entirely different people could share such an astonishingly similar aura. Even though she knew it was just a coincidence, Marguerite still found herself doing a double-take every time.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Marguerite glanced at Violet, who looked happier than Marguerite had ever seen her before. Unable to help herself, Marguerite corrected her:

“Me picking out a wedding dress? You must be confused.”

Violet stuck out her tongue playfully. “I know, I know! I’m just joking! Marguerite, tomorrow’s my big day, and I’ve already sent an invitation to your place.”

Maurice and Silas nodded politely in greeting before moving to stand beside Marguerite. Maurice draped an arm over her shoulders with effortless familiarity and, just as naturally, answered for her.

“I’m afraid we won’t be able to make it. Tomorrow is the launch for Polar Radiance, and there’s a press conference.”

He was speaking to Violet, but his gaze lingered a moment longer on Silas, something unspoken in his eyes.

Violet, however, was far too distracted by the sight of Maurice’s arm around Marguerite to pay attention to anything he said. She glanced at Maurice, then casually but firmly pulled Marguerite out of his embrace. She flashed Maurice a quick smile, saying,

“Mr. Winston, I need to have a word with Marguerite.”

He nodded with a polite smile. “Of course.”
