Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 872

Did Maurice really use his father's death anniversary as the password?

Who on earth could have guessed that?

But why use something so morbid for a password? What kind of strange habit was that?

Manley, for all his stubborn thinking, just couldn’t make sense of it no matter how hard he tried.

But Hayes had a nagging suspicion growing in the back of his mind, a feeling of unease that was almost ready to burst to the surface.

Jaw clenched, he forced himself to ignore the anxiety churning in his chest and opened the safe. What greeted him inside was an old desktop computer—just the monitor and the tower sitting together in the darkness.

Manley blinked in surprise. “Why would Maurice hide a computer in here?”

Hayes hauled the monitor and tower out, setting about reconnecting the cables. While he worked, Manley spotted something else: a folder tucked in the corner of the safe.

He scrambled to grab it, waving it at Hayes. “Hey, look at this! What is it?”

Hayes finished assembling the computer, then quickly booted it up.

The old machine glowed with a faint blue light, casting an eerie shine across Hayes’s young face.

He took the folder from Manley and flipped it open. Inside were contracts—wafer technology contracts.

Yes!

They’d finally found the right lead.

There had to be something vital about wafer tech on this computer.

Hayes set the contract aside and dove into the computer’s files, scanning through one folder after another.

It took ages, but at last, he found a PowerPoint presentation packed with everything there was to know about wafer tech.

Detailed blueprints. Instructions and warnings.

But aside from the diagrams, all the text was written in English.

Manley leaned in, curiosity piqued, but could only pick out a few familiar words. His English just wasn’t up to the task.

Hayes, on the other hand, had been teaching himself hacking and software development since he was little. Reading English technical documents was second nature to him.

But the more he read, the angrier he got. His face tightened, eyes narrowed in outrage.

Manley watched Hayes’s expression, then glanced helplessly at the computer screen full of English he couldn’t decipher. His anxiety was just about to boil over.
