Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 886

The man wore a mask, making it impossible for Marguerite to read the subtle shifts in his expression.

But she could clearly see the glint of amusement in Silas’s eyes, a look that seemed almost delighted.

With a decisive click, the pen he’d been twirling was slapped onto the table—firmly, but not aggressively. Marguerite’s heart skipped a beat. Then his voice rang out:

“Let’s start the meeting.”

Aside from a certain chill in the air, the first ten minutes went by in a fairly normal fashion.

Neal, from the PR firm, gave his report on the day of the launch event, explaining that a number of die-hard Polar Radiance fans had shown up, hoping to get their hands on the new perfume.

The cancellation, however, had sparked a wave of complaints.

After all, Polar Radiance had been pulled from the shelves three years ago, and now, with this happening again, fans were more frustrated than ever.

Before Marguerite could respond, Silas’s frosty voice cut through the air beside her:

“As an investor, I have the same concerns as the fans. The launch was canceled—Ms. Lockwood, are you planning to drop the project altogether?”

Marguerite turned to look at him, only to find his cool gaze utterly indifferent, with a hint of mockery dancing in his eyes.

Was he deliberately looking for a fight?

“The launch event was simply meant to announce the release date and let fans sample the fragrance as part of the promotion,” she explained. “Canceling it just means we lost one way to market the perfume, not that we’re shelving the product. The first batch is already finished—production’s done. In two weeks, it’ll be in stores as promised.”

“But a lot of fans are already upset—and those are your potential customers. How can you be so sure they’ll still buy your product willingly? If sales take a hit, Ms. Lockwood, I have to ask—will I still see a return on my investment?”
