Chapter 5 

The two brothers had long forgotten their apologies. 

To them, losing a child seemed like a trivial matter, while comforting the weeping Megan had become their priority. 

They supported her as they left the room together. 

Exhausted and weak, I soon drifted off to sleep.

That night, when I woke up and checked my phone, I discovered that a post had been made from my X account. It read: 

[I am Matthew Brosnan’s wife. The recent incident where we fell into the water was my fault, and I was the one who insisted that 

my husband rescue Megan. After all, she’s still young–she’s our sister, and we should protect her.] 

I scrolled down, barely containing my fury. 

[You’ve all misunderstood Megan. She’s not a mistress, she’s Matthew’s sister. I didn’t clarify this earlier because I’ve been 

unwell, but now I’m speaking out. Please don’t let this affect her life anymore. Thank you.] 

I had not written any of that. There was only one person who had access to my account–Matthew. 

I watched as public opinion immediately shifted. People began apologizing to Megan, saying they had misunderstood her. 

Seizing the moment, I started a live stream to set the record straight. I revealed the truth to everyone, explaining that I had no 

knowledge of the post on my account. 

It was Matthew who had logged into my account and made the statement. 

In no time, the tide of public opinion turned once again. 

As waves of gossip continued to flood the internet, Megan remained silent, waiting for the storm to pass. 

Meanwhile, Sarah and I gradually recovered, and seeing that Matthew and Patrick were still dragging their feet about the divorce 

we took the next step by filing a lawsuit for divorce through the courts. 

There was a one–month cooling–off period before the divorce could be finalized. Yet, during that time, everything changed dramátically. 

After the rock climbing and drowning incident, the public became aware of the poor quality of the products from the shop that 

supplied us, and people boycotted everything they sold.
