Ines grinned, "Do you know that Ethan and I decided to get hitched after just one meeting? Do you get what that means?"
"What else could it mean? He just couldn't resist the family pressure to go on a blind date and just happened to bump into someone who seemed a decent match." Silvia said. By saying this, it meant that she was just a life raft Ethan clung onto, nothing to brag about.
Ines felt people who were good at pretending were indeed a pain in the butt. Whatever she said to them, it felt like punching cotton, totally pointless.
No denying, Silvia had some tricks up her sleeve. She could guess the real motive behind their marriage. But Ines wasn't a pushover, she wouldn't be easily ticked off by her, "Ethan has met so many women over the years, I don't believe there weren't a few suitable candidates. Why wait until he was forced to go on a blind date to choose someone suitable? Moreover, you've been by his side for so many years, but he never considered you. He doesn't even have romantic feelings for you. Why me, someone he met just once? Have you ever pondered over this?"
Silvia's gaze flickered, her usual calm and composed eyes changed.
Before she could retort, she heard Ines chuckle, "Let me tell you, it's called love at first sight."
"Ines." Silvia couldn't help but raise her voice.
"Do you find my words reasonable? Let me tell you, even if you're Leila's sister, Ethan won't have feelings for you. What's the big deal about looking alike? With today's advanced plastic surgery, it's entirely possible to look like someone else. What counts is that I could marry him so quickly, even though I look nothing like your sister, which is a real perfect match." Ines said.
Ines wasn't sure what she said at the end. By the time she came around, Silvia was already gone from the room.
Ines felt a dull ache between her brows; she couldn't help but rub them. Just when Ashley walked in, Ines looked at her and couldn't help but smile. She thought it would be Ashley knocking on the door.
Ashley, with her personality, wouldn't knock if she knew Ethan wasn't there.
"Ines, I saw Silvia coming out of your room just now. What happened?" Ashley looked concerned.
"She just told me straight up that she wants to snatch your brother from me." Ines said.
Ashley paused for a moment, then angrily said, "She is utterly shameless, with no sense of decency, daring to provoke you in our house. You should have recorded what she said to expose her true colors. She has been deceiving our family for years, especially grandpa, who had her brought here knowing she sprained her ankle. It's just not worth it."
"Why did you suddenly think of using a recorder?" Ines looked at Ashley, amused.
"When we went on a trip recently, I heard from Phoebe that she always carries a recorder with her because that habit has helped her solve many problems. Wait, I'll go online in a bit to pick a few good recorders for you. This is just the beginning, if Silvia provokes you again, just record what she says." Ashley said.
"But I can't always carry it with me." Ines smiled.
Ines had no complaints about the Meyer family's care for Silvia. After all, her sister passed away due to the Meyer Group's issues back then. They were all reasonable people so they would naturally take extra care of Silvia.
