Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 307

At dinner, Ethan could tell that Ines was a bit down in the dumps. She barely touched her favorite dish, just picked at it a bit.

If Ethan could notice this, so could the rest of them. Erica asked, puzzled, "Izzy, not feeling the grub tonight? You seem to have lost your appetite." Ines gave a slight smile, not wanting to worry the family. She didn't want to spill the beans about Silvia just yet, but planned to bring concrete evidence to the table. "Probably ate too much at lunch, not feeling peckish now." She said. But the truth was, seeing Silvia sitting across the table brought back all the things she had said to her in the bedroom earlier.

Silvia kept her head down, chowing down on her food. Ashley gave her a surreptitious dirty look but didn't say a word. She had already conspired with Ines to keep the whole thing hush-hush for now and expose it slowly later.

So even though she was dying to spill, she had to keep mum for now.

"No worries, just eat what you can. If you get hungry later, Ethan can heat it up for you." Phillip said with a chuckle.

"Oh, by the way, I've arranged for another nanny. But since you're not staying at the Meyer Mansion right now, I didn't ask her to come over. We'll sort it out when you move to the mansion." Erica mentioned.

Ines nodded, "Thanks for going to all that trouble."

"No trouble at all, I'm just looking out for my grandchild. I'm more than happy to do it." Erica waved it off.

Ethan, noticing Ines didn't say much at the dinner table, figured it wasn't the right time to bring it up. So even though he knew she was making excuses, he didn't call her out on it.

After dinner, Ethan took Ines out for a walk. As she was in the mid-to-late stage of her pregnancy, Camela suggested they take a one-hour stroll every evening, which would be beneficial for the later stages of labor.

"Izzy, you seemed a bit off tonight. Anything happened that I should know about?" Ethan stopped in his tracks, seeming to wait for her answer.

Ines was silent for a few seconds, but didn't beat around the bush with Ethan, "At lunch today, Silvia came to see me. She asked me what her chances were of stealing you away from me."

Ethan stiffened for a moment. He knew Ines wouldn't lie or exaggerate. He squinted at Ines, "Did she really say that?"

Ines nodded.

"Alright, I believe you. How did you answer her?" Ethan asked.

Ines gave a serious smile, "I told her, not a chance in hell."

Ethan was taken aback for a moment, then broke into a grin. He ruffled her hair, "I didn't know you had such faith in me."
