Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 320

Saturday

They took a flight that departed just after nine in the morning, reaching B City around eleven, just in time for the wedding banquet. They didn’t go home but headed directly to the wedding venue.

Upon arriving, Ines spotted Jeffery who was bustling around with wedding preparations. She couldn't help but call out, "Jeffery." Jeffery looked a lot like Zander, even his demeanor similar. He always had a hint of a smile on his face, which made him seem easy-going. After glancing at Ines, he ruffled her hair, "You're about to become a mom and you still look so thin, haven't you been eating?"

"I'm 28, soon to be a mom of two. Besides, keeping this weight is good for me. Gaining weight during pregnancy and losing it afterward is a real pain." Ines defended.

"In my mind, you'll always be the Izzy who used to stick to me like glue. Whenever I ignored you, you'd fake crying to gain my sympathy. But actually, you'd be secretly thrilled." Jeffery said.

"Let's not talk about the past." Ines said, feeling slightly embarrassed as she sneakily glanced at Ethan.

Jeffery turned his attention to Ethan, gave him a nod and extended his hand, "I'm Jeffery, Izzy's cousin."

"Ethan." Ethan returned the handshake with a smile.

"Guys, don't act like you're at a formal meeting, shaking hands like strangers." Ines complained, yanking their clasped hands apart.

Ethan chuckled, his eyes full of love and adoration for Ines. Jeffery, seeing this, was pleased and told Ethan, "You need to be more patient with her."

"There's no need for patience. I'm her husband, and it's my responsibility." Ethan said.

Ines couldn't stand their politeness and stiffness, so she asked, "Where are the bride and your parents? I haven't seen them in a while."

"They're resting in the room. She found her shoes uncomfortable and went to change." Jeffery replied, continuing to entertain the guests while chatting.

Seeing Jeffery so busy, Ines told him, "Okay, you continue. We'll go find them."

In the room, Zander was giving Rita a shoulder rub. The wedding preparations had kept her extremely busy recently, and she was rather exhausted. Upon seeing them, Rita smiled, but scolded Ines when she saw her belly, "Izzy, you should have listened to us. How can you run around with such a big belly? And Ethan, you're spoiling her too much. You should show some husbandly authority, not always do as she wishes."

Ines hugged Rita's arm, "You shouldn't be stirring up trouble between us. If Ethan becomes stern, we'll definitely start arguing."

Rita poked her head, "You should soften your stubborn attitude, you can't always be at odds with Ethan."

"If I knew I'd get scolded right after arriving, I wouldn't have come. I'd rather be sleeping comfortably at home. Ethan, tell me, when have I ever been at odds with you?" Ines turned the topic to Ethan.

Ethan was about to say something but Rita interrupted him, "Ethan, don't help her argue."

Unable to say anything, Ethan stayed quiet while Ines rolled her eyes.

Rita continued, "Don't try to change the subject. I'm talking about you, you've been married for so long, don't you have a more intimate way of addressing him?"
