Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 319

"Alright, seeing you're doing good, I can rest easy. I gotta get back to work now, but I'll check in on you later." Ines said.

Emma nodded with a smile, "Go on, don't let me hold you up from your work. I'm doing fine, and so is Jasmine."

Ines went over a few things with Emma again before leaving with Ethan, with Silas staying behind just in case anything unexpected came up.

"Ethan, who knew you were such a kid person? I always thought you were the type to keep a safe distance from them." Ines teased.

Ethan thought for a moment before answering, "I only like girls. If it were a boy, I might not be as fond." The main thing was, Jasmine had the same eyes as her, which he really liked.

Ines rolled her eyes at his preference for girls, "What if I had two boys? What would you do then?"

"That probably won't happen. At least one of them would be a girl." Ethan said.

With things smoothing out with Emma, Ines naturally wanted to buy a gift for the baby. Because of some work at the Meyer Group, Ines had to let Ethan go back first and then she called Phoebe to accompany her to buy the gift.

Phoebe had climbed up to the position of editor-in-chief. Her working hours were much more flexible than when she was the managing editor, always ready at a moment's notice. She quickly drove over.

Phoebe looked at Ines in surprise, "Izzy, I didn't hear wrong on the phone, did I? You're buying a gift for Emma's daughter?"

"You heard right, I am buying a gift for her daughter." Ines said.

Phoebe shook her head in astonishment, sighing, "That's strange. You two actually have a day of reconciliation, even buying gifts. Lucky you, if it were me, I wouldn't reconcile with her no matter the reason."

Ines said, "Enough, let's not talk about this anymore. You're here to help me pick a gif. Let's not discuss anything else. I've got work waiting at my company, I don't have that much time."

"Alright, I know you're busy. Do you have any ideas on what gift to buy?" Phoebe asked.

Ines shook her head, "If I had an idea, I wouldn't have asked you to come. I could've bought it myself."

"Okay, I get it. You only remember me when you need me. Let's go, just follow my lead." Phoebe said.

After buying the gift, it was already late. Ines thought for a moment and decided not to go to the company. They found a coffee shop to sit down and Ines only ordered a glass of water.

"By the way, Izzy, my mom's little sweater is finished. When should I bring it over?" Phoebe asked.

"That was quick." Ines said.

"Yes, she hasn't been busy lately. But she's been surprisingly nice, not forcing me to go on blind dates. I don't know if she's lost her mind." Phoebe took a sip of her coffee and casually mentioned.

A hint of unease flashed in Ines's eyes, but it quickly faded, "Isn't that better? You don't have to worry about how to deal with her every day. It's simpler and freer now."

"Have you ever seen someone who believes in Christianity suddenly convert to Buddhism?" Phoebe asked.
