"I'm sorry." Joy hung her head, tears welling up in her eyes. She knew her husband still cared about her. Despite his harsh tone, he had already forgiven her.
"What's the use of apologizing if you really cared about our feelings, you wouldn't have done what you did in the first place." Jeffery stood his ground.
"I promise I'll tell you everything from now on, no more secrets." Joy lifted her head, looking earnestly at Jeffery.
Seeing her like this, Jeffery's heart ached, but he said, "Talk is cheap. The point is you have to follow through."
"Alright, if you guys want to fight, take it home. It's not cool to argue in the hospital, you might disturb other patients." Rita waved her hand impatiently, she had decided to wash her hands off this matter. How her son decided to handle it was up to him.
Hearing this, Joy's eyes lit up, and she looked at Rita in surprise, "Are you willing to forgive me?"
"Whether I forgive you or not isn't the point; the important thing is my son still loves you. I don't want to see him upset." Rita said.
"Thank you." Joy said.
"Okay, Jeffery, take Joy home. You guys can't do much help here, your mom's condition isn't serious. She doesn't need this many people by her side. I'm here." Zander also chimed in.
Jeffery nodded, there were some things he still didn't quite understand, but he didn't want to ask and worry his parents more.
"Izzy, Ethan, it's getting late. when are you guys heading back to A City?" Jeffery asked.
"We'll head back tomorrow morning." Ines answered.
"Alright, you guys should head home and rest. Your room is cleaned regularly, so you can move in directly when you get back." Rita said.
Ines nodded and they all left the hospital together.
Rita looked at Zander a bit worried, "I don't know if Joy will deceive us again. If she does, no matter how deep their feelings are, I'll make sure they divorce."
"Let's give her a chance, hoping she can change. As for the future, who knows?" Zander said.
Rita still had doubts, "Ah, now everyone knows my son's wife is a woman who has served time in jail, there will definitely be a lot of gossip at school."
Zander said, "We're old now, let them talk. They'll stop when they've had enough, you don't need to care too much. We're both at retirement age, if it gets too much, we can resign and move to city A for a while. Maybe even help Ines with the kid."
"You wish, but the Meyer family isn't lacking people to look after the kid. What are we going there for?" Rita said.
Zander chuckled, "I was just saying, and you took it too seriously. We can go stay for a few days at most. I've lived in city B for so long, I'm not used to moving."
When they got home, it was already evening. They had dinner outside before heading back.
Jeffery nodded, "Thank you, Izzy. If it weren't for you today persuading my parents, they probably wouldn't have forgiven Joy so quickly."
"We're families, you don't need to thank me. How did you get involved with a woman like Tina? She could've told you the truth privately. Why did she have to create a scene at the wedding, so heartless." Ines said.
"I'm also annoyed by that kind of woman, I didn't do anything to her, yet she's after me. I'm really helpless." Jeffery said.
"That's because you're so charming." Ines said.
Jeffery smiled, "Stop making fun of me, my appeal is nowhere near Ethan's. I never thought you were a bragger, but I've seen you flaunting Ethan on TV twice."
Ines replied, "That's definitely your imagination, I'm still very low-key. It's just that our positions don't allow us to be. If we didn't clarify then, it'd not only affect us personally, but also the company's stocks. Ethan is very serious about love. He's straightforward and he said it as it is. He didn't think there was anything wrong at the time, but the public loves to exaggerate, it was all unintentional."
Jeffery waved a hand and said, "Save it. I only believe what I see. But seeing you this happy, I'm genuinely pleased for you."
Ines shot back at him, "If you're really happy, show it. My two kids are about to be born. What are you gonna do about it?"
Jeffery gently patted Ines on the head and said, "Don't sweat it, I'll get their gifts ready. Can't believe you're asking for gifts on behalf of two kids."
Ines retorted, "You're my cousin, not some stranger." Jeffery laughed and said, "My mom said you've changed after getting married, now I believe it."
