Camela rang up last night, saying she was stuck at her daughter's place because she missed her flight due to the weather. Now, she wouldn't be able to get here until at least Tuesday.
Ines didn't mind; in fact, she was kind of happy about it. It meant she got to spend more quality time alone with Ethan.
That night, Ines was vegging out on the couch, flicking through channels but not really knowing what she wanted to watch. After a few flips, she remembered the show Ethan's mom had been binge-watching recently and decided to give it a shot. She didn't have the patience to start from the beginning, so she just randomly picked an episode.
Ethan came in with some sliced fruits just in time to see Ines grinning at the TV. He couldn't help but look too and saw a man in uniform tying a woman's shoelaces, a pretty sweet scene.
Ethan walked over, handing Ines a slice of orange. As she took it and turned to look at him, she studied him for a moment and then said, "Mr. Meyer, I finally figured out what you were doing all those times."
"What?" Ethan looked at Ines with a puzzled expression.
Ines said seriously, "You were flirting. And let me tell you, you were way better at it than the guy on the screen. Your game was like ten times stronger."
Ethan didn't quite get it, but judging by Ines' expression, he guessed it was a compliment. So, he just chuckled and said, "Well, I'm glad you think highly of me."
Ines hugged Ethan's waist, laughing heartily. Ethan didn't quite know why, but he just indulged her, joining her to watch the show. After a while, he couldn't help but ask, "Isn't this the show my mom was hooked on? How come you're interested in it too?"
Ethan had always found his mom, Erica's taste in TV shows a bit baffling. She was a middle-aged woman, yet she loved these mushy romantic dramas. The one who suffered the most was his dad, who had to sit through those shows with her whenever he had time. Ethan and his brother only got roped in occasionally.
Ines shook her head, "I honestly didn't know what to watch, so I just picked something. I think this show is pretty average, not as good as everyone online says. I think you did way better than the guy in the show, so I don't feel jealous or anything."
After a while, Ines started to feel sleepy, her eyes half-closed. Ethan stroked her hair gently, sounding a bit concerned, "It seems like you'll have to get a haircut in a couple of months."
"That's fine, if you don't like my hair too short, I can just trim it a bit. Besides, you'll help me style it." Ines murmured absentmindedly.
"Okay."
...
Ines went back to work. She had already discussed with Ethan that she would officially take leave from work to prepare for childbirth in a month when the baby was eight months old. She didn't want to use the management team Ethan had prepared for her. She didn't want to replace many managers and affect the stability of the Galeana Group. She just needed a CEO while the other managers could continue to work.
At noon, Ines received a text from Phoebe thanking her for the chicken she had sent. Ines was busy at the time, glanced at the message, thought it was sent to the wrong number, and didn't bother to reply. She planned to ask about it in detail when she had time.
However, not long after, her phone on the table started to vibrate frequently. All the messages were about the chicken, and the senders included Noel, Aaron, and even Emma.
Ines was utterly baffled; she couldn't figure out when she had sent them chickens.
"Something wrong, Izzy?" Silas asked.
