"You're so ruthless." Ines shook her head. She just couldn't be as decisive as Emma.
"Izzy, give it a shot and ask them for help. Times like these really bring out the true colors of people." Emma suggested.
"Don't worry, I got this. I won't let anyone walk all over me." Ines said.
"Right on! Back in the day, I tried my best to mess with you, but never pulled it off. You lot are all deep thinkers, planning each move carefully. Not like me, always acting on impulse and ending up with nothing good." Emma said.
"Glad you get it. Some things need a one-shot deal. I ain't got the energy to do the same thing over and over." Ines said.
They were so engrossed in their chat that they completely ignored Jasmine in her crib. When Eda came in, she found Jasmine's face and neck covered in regurgitated milk from overeating. "I can't understand you two sisters. Two of you watching one child and you let her get this messy. Her clothes are soaked, we need to change her right away or she'll catch a cold. Her diaper needs changing too." Eda said as she wiped Jasmine's face, scolding the two women.
Emma muttered under her breath. Her leg hadn't fully recovered, so she had to limp to the wardrobe to find clothes and a diaper to hand to Eda.
Eda said to Ines, "Izzy, you should learn how to take care of a baby too. You're gonna have two kids in the future; it's going to be busier."
Ines awkwardly nodded and watched Eda take care of Jasmine. Jasmine would fall asleep once she was full, undisturbed by any noise around her.
At dinner, both Ethan and Silas showed up. Ethan's eyes sparkled when he saw her. Ines glared at him. She hadn't told Silas she came here. But somehow, Ethan was always following her like a tail.
Silas shook his head helplessly, looking at the couple.
Eda greeted Ethan with a smile, "Ethan, come in and take a seat! I made a stew with the chicken you sent over yesterday, it smells delicious."
Ethan nodded and sat next to Ines. As it was time for dinner, Jasmine was put in her stroller. Silas usually held her for a bit after work, but today she started crying unexpectedly as soon as he picked her up.
Ines glanced at Ethan, then at Jasmine, and seemed to understand what was going on. She kicked Ethan under the table, "Go hold her! It must be because of you." Ethan smiled slightly, took Jasmine from Silas. Sure enough, Jasmine stopped crying as soon as she was in his arms, opening her big eyes still wet with tears. Ethan wiped her tears away and she seemed to smile instantly. Although the expressions of a baby aren't clear, she was indeed smiling.
"Ethan, it seems Jasmine can't do without you." Silas chuckled.
"She'll probably grow out of it when she gets older." Ethan said casually.
After holding Jasmine for a while, she fell asleep again. Ethan put her back in the stroller and sat down with everyone to have dinner.
After dinner, everyone seemed to realize that Ethan and Ines had something to talk about, so they all left. The living room was suddenly empty except for the two of them.
"Izzy, are you still mad?" Ethan looked seriously at Ines.
