Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 370

In the afternoon, Robin and Noel showed up, both old men grunting at each other upon meeting. Robin said with a hint of displeasure. "Phillip, what's gotten into you lately? Why is your health so poor, and you've been needing to go to the hospital so often?"

"Get off my back. I'm fit as a fiddle, hardly ever at the hospital," Phillip retorted, glaring at Robin.

Everyone was used to their banter, so no one chimed in, letting them argue.

"You're full of it. I remember about a year ago, you spent quite a while in the hospital," Robin countered.

"That time I wasn't even sick; I was just forcing Ethan into a blind date. I haven't been sick for years," Phillip let slip, quickly stopping himself when he realized his slip-up.

Robin slapped his knee, laughing, "Just as I thought. You finally showed your true colors. Shameless, using such low tactics on your own grandson."

"What's wrong with my tactics? I'm about to be a great-grandfather, while your grandson can't even find a wife."

Ines couldn't help but laugh. If she guessed correctly, this was the reason Ethan was forced into a blind date.

Hearing Ines' laughter, Phillip looked slightly uncomfortable, glaring again at Robin.

Ethan whispered to Ines, "My grandpa never fooled me. I knew all along he was pretending to be sick."

Robin couldn't find the words and was so infuriated that his beard seemed to stand on end. Over the past year, Robin had been mocked by Phillip because his grandson hadn't married yet. Now that he had a chance to retaliate, he wasn't going to let it slip by.

"Enough with this nonsense. Whether you were seriously ill or just faking it, you're the one in bed now. You've lived all these years, don't tell me you can't even own up to it now. If you are sick, just admit it. No one's gonna laugh at you."

"Who is sick? Who's not owning up? I just don't want to talk to you right now."

"Just a few words from me and you're all riled up, no wonder you passed out from anger. You really can't handle much, can you?" Robin directly exposed the truth, and Phillip responded with a heavy grunt. "You're just an old fool. Did Noel's wife situation get resolved? You could spend your time better by managing your own grandson instead of causing a fuss here. I'll have you know, Izzy's expecting twins. You're not just a little behind. You're miles behind. It'll take you years to catch up to Ethan with a pair of kids, and you'll never catch up."

Ines couldn't help but laugh. She didn't expect Phillip to use this to mock others, quite surprising.

Noel was mentioned again, feeling unfairly implicated in the same problem.

"Noel, what do you think?" Robin stared sternly at Noel.

Noel smiled faintly and gave a nod to the old men, "My dear grandfathers, I'm grateful for your concern. I've found a solution to my problem, can you please stop paying so much attention to me?"

Robin glared at Noel, who could only shrug and stand behind Ines. She had a high standing in the Meyer family. But no sooner had he moved, Ethan pulled him away, "You're a man, asking my wife to protect you, what's the deal?"
