Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 374

Ines and Ethan's commotion woke up Camela. By the time Camela put on her clothes and came out, Ethan had already scooped up Ines and was heading for the door. Camela quickly grabbed her pre-packed bag and followed.

Ethan got the car started in no time, with Camela and Ines in the back. Ines clung tightly to Camela's hand, her body shaking slightly, and her palms cold with sweat.

Camela asked, "Izzy, how are you holding up?"

Ines shook her head, "I can bear it. It's just like the pain that I felt at home for a dozen seconds. I don't feel it now, but I'm kind of jittery."

She had seen many childbirth scenes on TV and heard many related stories. The thought of those scenes scared her, giving her an unprecedented sense of nervousness.

Just as Camela was about to say something, Ethan turned his head slightly, "Izzy, don't be nervous. I'm here for you."

Ines responded seriously, "Ethan, quit the chit-chat and focus on driving."

Ethan still sounded worried, "If you're scared, you can talk to me to distract yourself. You'll be less nervous then." He'd rather have someone else drive, so he could hold Ines close. He felt uncomfortable talking to her from such a distance.

Ines complained a bit, "I told you to stop talking. It's late. You need to drive carefully."

Ethan replied, "Don't worry about my driving skills. I know what I'm doing. I won't get us into any accidents. I just want to talk to help you relax."

Camela remained calm, having seen many such scenes. Listening to their banter, she couldn't help but laugh, "Ethan, don't be too tense. Keep your eyes on the road. Giving birth isn't a walk in the park. Izzy isn't in much pain yet. It might be false contractions, which most expecting mothers experience."

Ethan froze a bit. He'd been learning about pregnancy and childbirth and knew what false contractions were. He helplessly said, "Regardless, I'd feel better if she stayed at the hospital. It saves us from panicking later. I don't feel at ease at home."

He parked the car at the hospital. Ines' pain had subsided, but to be safe, Ethan insisted on a doctor's check.

The doctor said it wasn't real contractions yet, and it wasn't time for delivery. They were just advised to stay put for now, and then the doctor didn't attend to them further.

Ines pointed at her belly, feeling a bit annoyed, "You two are too mischievous, causing a ruckus in the middle of the night for your parents."

Ethan put his hand on Ines' shoulder and laughed, "Wait till they're born to scold them. If they're pulling pranks this young, who knows what they'll do when they grow up."

In the morning, Camela mentioned forgetting some items, so Ethan sent her home.

Uncertain of Ines' delivery time, Ethan didn't call his family yet. He accompanied Ines to the hospital and had Lucas bring over some documents.
