Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 389

Erica stared at Beasley, her mouth hanging open in shock, unable to utter a word.

Could someone please tell her what the heck was going on? Didn't her son die six years ago? How on earth did he suddenly reappear? No, her son wasn't dead. He was standing right there, alive, and well.

In her dazed state, Beasley walked up to Erica, gently putting an arm around her shoulders. "Mom, I'm back." Erica slowly stood up, her hand reaching out to touch Ethan's face, tears streaming down her cheeks. In the office, she was a powerhouse, but at that moment, she was just a mother. Her heart was pounding, her words a garbled mess. "Beasley, is it really you?"

Beasley gently held Erica's hand, placing it on his chest while wiping away her tears with his other hand. He nodded seriously. "Yes, Mom, it's me. I'm sorry for making you worry all these years."

The warmth Erica felt assured her that this wasn't a dream. This was reality. "You little rascal, you really broke my heart."

Erica remembered the pain she felt when she received the news of her son's death. She had cried rivers for him and was still somewhat fearful of the memory. But it turned out that it was all a lie.

Of course, she understood her son had been sent on a mission, and his supposed death was a cover-up.

The more Erica thought about it, the more upset she became. Even though she knew her son had no control over certain things, she couldn't help but softly punch Beasley's shoulder.

Beasley didn't know how to comfort his mother, so he just kept smiling at Erica.

After punching Beasley for a while, Erica stopped and carefully looked at Beasley. "Have you been well these past years?"

Beasley didn't answer directly, "Don't worry about me, Mom. I'm back now, safe and sound."

Erica tenderly touched his face. "I remember when you were a child, you were only slightly darker than Ethan. Now you've become so much darker that you hardly resemble him." The brothers used to look like twins from afar, but the difference was stark now.

"Being a bit darker is fine," Beasley responded with a light smile.

"You may look handsome with your dark skin, but it's so rough. Who would like a man who feels like a kiwi?" Erica said, slightly annoyed.

The emotional reunion scene was interrupted by Erica's comment, causing everyone to burst out laughing. Ashley also stood up, and sneakily jumped onto Beasley's back. Luckily, he reacted quickly and held her up, preventing her from falling.

"Beasley, so you've been alive all this time. I cried buckets for you when you 'died.' You should compensate me double, preferably with money."

"Do you still need pocket money?" This girl used to always get some pocket money from him, and he gave her a big portion of his salary back then.

"I don't have much money now, as you can see." Beasley, like usual, slightly spread his arms.

"You're lying, let me check." Without any hesitation, Ashley reached into Beasley's pocket and pulled out a black wallet. However, when she opened it, there were only a few dozen dollars inside.

"Ah, poor Beasley, you're really broke. Looks like I'll have to rely on my dear Ethan from now on."

"I am indeed pretty broke right now."

Even though Phillip knew all along that he was alive, seeing how much he had changed over the years still tugged at his heartstrings. He patted Beasley on the shoulder. "It's good that you're back. We're finally all together again as a family."

Trenton, the tough soldier, couldn't help but go up to embrace his son when he saw him return. "Beasley, well done. I'm proud of you."

"Dad." Beasley's voice choked up a little. He barely remembered his dad hugging him in his memories.

It seemed that these past years had truly worried them all. "Alright, let's not get all teary. Beasley's return is a good thing, and today is the twins' full moon party. It's a day of joy and celebration, so let's forget about the past." Erica tried to lighten the mood, though her eyes were brimming with tears, ready to break down at any moment.

Beasley nodded and then greeted Jacob and Lauren. Even though Jacob was also happy, he just patted Beasley's shoulder subtly and praised him for a "job well done."

"Thank god you're back, your mom's been a real wreck these past few years. It's a relief to see you back safe and sound. It's gonna make her feel a lot better."

Beasley scanned the folks around the table, realizing there were quite a few faces he didn't recognize. That's when Ethan stood up. "Beasley, let me do the honors here."

One by one, Ethan introduced Beasley to the rest of the gang. He saved Ines for last. "Beasley, this is my wife. Remember that car crash years ago? You're the one who pulled her out."

Ines gave a soft smile. "Hi, Beasley, I'm Ines. I really can't thank you enough for what you did all those years ago. Without you, I wouldn't be alive today, let alone married to Ethan."

Beasley looked at Ines, something flickered in his eyes but he covered it up well. Only Ethan noticed. "Hey, Izzy, I'm Ethan's big bro, Beasley. Welcome to our crazy clan."
