When Ethan woke up, Ines was already up and about, tying his tie for him, and planting a kiss on his cheek, gently reminding him, "Ethan, make sure to come home early today."
Ethan couldn't help but feel pleased. "Don't worry, I'll definitely come home early. Today is a special day as it's our kids' one-month-old birthday."
"Mmm, I've prepared a surprise for you," said Ines seriously.
Ethan looked puzzled, dropping his hand, and asking curiously, "What surprise?"
Ines pushed him out of the bedroom. "I've already said it's a surprise, how could I possibly tell you in advance? Just get home early this afternoon, and you'll find out."
Ethan raised his eyebrows. "Alright, I'll make sure to come back early."
Ines had picked out two beautiful sets of clothes for the twin babies, both bought by Hunter. She was very satisfied.
With Phillip and Zander, the two head chefs, handling the kitchen, they didn't need to worry about anything. After lunch, Ines, Erica, Rita, and Camela bathed the two little babies together, which was the babies' favorite activity. Even the usually lazy Ivy became active at this time. When the adults held her head, her little feet would kick in the bath, which was extremely cute.
Since the little ones' bodies were still delicate, every bath time involved one person holding the upper body and the other person scrubbing.
Ines and Erica were bathing Ivy. The moment they touched her tiny legs, she let out a giggle. Though it wasn't loud, it was definitely a giggle.
"Did Ivy just giggle?"
It took a moment for Erica to react. "It seems so."
"Ivy, giggle again for us to hear," Ines tickled Ivy's foot.
Sure enough, Ivy giggled again, but this time a bit louder, and everyone in the room heard it.
Camela stopped wiping her hands. "Wow, Ivy is only a month old, and she's already giggling. She's going to be a smart and adorable kid."
"When do most babies start to giggle?"
"Usually around two to three months, sometimes even later," Camela said and tried to play with Ollie.
But no matter how she played with Ollie, he didn't giggle and just looked around with his big eyes.
"Ollie has always been the more active one, so why is he acting all serious now?"
At Rita's words, everyone laughed.
After their bath, the babies were dressed in their new clothes, complete with little hats, looking absolutely adorable. Everyone wanted to hold them tight.
By around four in the afternoon, Ethan came home and cradled Ivy in his arms before finding Ines.
Beasley hadn't come back yet, so Ines couldn't help but feel anxious. Her mind was not focused, and she didn't have time to "be jealous" of her own daughter.
"What's wrong, Izzy? You seem a bit distracted, is something bothering you?" Ethan asked with concern.
Ines paused, Ethan, who was sitting next to her, frowned slightly. He thought she was acting a bit strange today.
Phillip nodded at the servant. "Yes, it's someone I invited, let them in."
"Dad, did you invite someone else today? Why didn't you mention it before? And we've already started eating, you should've told us earlier, we could've waited." Erica felt it was a bit impolite.
Phillip waved his hand. "Let’s eat our meal, we're all family here, and there's no need to be so formal."
Erica couldn't figure out who Phillip would consider as family.
Ethan, on the other hand, understood immediately. He barely managed to hide his excitement, he held Ines' hand tightly, gazing at her without blinking, and asked in a trembling voice, "Izzy, is this the surprise you were talking about?"
Ines gave a small nod, though her heart was filled with bitterness. After all, Beasley had been away from home for years now, and it seemed he even needed permission to come home these days.
Erica, who overheard Ethan and Ines' conversation, couldn't help but ask, "What surprise? Did Ines invite this guest?"
Trenton felt there was no need to hide anything at this point. He, too, had only found out about it this morning, and he was so shocked that he nearly lost his balance. He thought he had misheard and had to confirm it several times before accepting the reality. Although he had suspected it before, he had never dared to confirm it. When he did, he experienced an even more profound sense of excitement and nervousness.
"Erica, don't freak out. The guy is..."
Before Trenton could finish his sentence, Erica's bowl had already dropped from her hands. She just stood there, staring blankly in the distance. Everyone else followed her gaze towards the entrance. There, a man was walking in from outside, his features refined and similar to Ethan's, though his facial lines were more rugged, and his skin a tad darker, as if he had rushed over through wind and dust. At this moment, there was a subtle upturn at the corners of his mouth. It wasn't very noticeable, but he was indeed wearing a smile.
