Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 395

"Ines, are you feeling down tonight?"

Ines shook her head, choosing to keep mum, focusing on helping Ethan take a bath.

Thanks to Ethan's restless arm, Ines got splashed with water all over her face and clothes. She couldn't help but warn him, "Ethan, show a little respect, or I won't be helping you with your bath. You'll have to do it yourself."

On hearing this, Ethan immediately stopped fidgeting, his eyes locked on Ines, looking obedient as a lamb.

Ines couldn't help but chuckle. She never thought a drunk Ethan could be this endearing and this well-behaved.

After she finished bathing Ethan, drying his hair, and putting him to bed, Ines was drenched in sweat. This was no walk in the park; she wondered how Ethan managed to bathe her while she was asleep in the past.

Looking at Ethan who had closed his eyes, Ines regretfully pinched his cheek, then decided to go downstairs to prepare some lemon water for him. Beasley’s years of alertness kicked in as he suddenly opened his eyes in the dark, but after a few seconds, he realized it was just a woman's footsteps. There wouldn't be anyone else but Ines. He smirked, realizing his worries were unnecessary.

When Ines came upstairs with the lemon water, Ethan was already casually sprawled out on the bed, snoring lightly.

Ines shook him. "Ethan, drink the lemon water before you go back to sleep. Otherwise, you'll feel awful tomorrow."

"No need, I'm fine. I'll be ok after a good sleep," Ethan mumbled out unconsciously.

"If you don't drink, then don't expect me to take care of you like I did tonight." Ines' face hardened, her gaze looking down on Ethan.

Hearing this, Ethan slowly opened his eyes, seemingly taking a while to process what she said, then stuttered, "Ok, I'll drink."

Ines helped him sit up and handed him the lemon water.

Despite having taken a bath, Ines could still smell a strong whiff of alcohol on him. It made her wonder just how much he had drunk. Her anger bubbled up again, reminding him, "You drink it all, okay?"

Sure enough, Ethan gulped down the entire glass of lemon water in one go. Then, like a child, he turned the glass upside down, and lightly chuckled. "Ines, I drank it all."

"Alright, I know you drank it all." Ines took the glass from him, placing it on the bedside table.

Just as she was about to go to sleep, Ethan suddenly clung to her waist. Ines laughed. "Ethan, it's bedtime."

"Ines, I'm really lucky to have married you."

"Alright, enough with the sappy talk. You behave like a child when you're drunk. Aren't you tired? If you're tired, go to bed."

"I don't want to sleep, I want to talk with you." Ethan held onto her tighter.

Ines was at her wit's end, feeling that people, regardless of gender, became unreasonable when drunk.

Looking at the large hand on her waist, Ines hesitated but ultimately didn't push him away. "So, what do you want to talk about?"
