Ethan stared out at the deep night, feeling a gut-wrenching pain. He knew he was over Leila, or he wouldn't have chosen to marry Ines. But now, all these doubts and questions were gnawing at him, and he never expected to cause such a big misunderstanding with Ines. He wasn't hoping for anything; he was just scared.
Yeah, scared was the right word. He was scared that if there was something going on between them, Ines would be hurt and upset. That was all.
Ines had called Silas on her way, so when she arrived at the Galeana family's place, the door was already open. Silas, Eda, and Emma were all waiting for her at the door. Seeing their blurry figures under the light, Ines' heart was filled with bitterness. Luckily, she still had family in A City, waiting for her at times like this.
Perhaps because her father had been through it all, he knew that life was long and even the strongest marriage would have its conflicts. That was when the Galeana family would be her safe harbor.
As soon as Ines got out of the car, Emma hurried over and took her hand, looking at her worriedly, "Izzy, are you okay?"
"Why are you out here in your PJs? You'll catch a cold. I'm fine, just had a bit of a spat with Ethan, so I decided to come home for a few days." Ines stroked Emma's hair.
"This is your home. You can stay as long as you want, even if you want to live with me forever," Emma joked.
"Silas, Phillip asked me to tell you something. No matter what happens, the Meyer family will always support Izzy." The one who brought Ines home was Phillip's driver, Dane.
Silas wasn't sure what happened, but from the look on Ines' face, he knew it wasn't simple. He said gravely, "We appreciate Phillip's sentiment. Let him know that while our family may not be as powerful as the Meyers, we have more than enough resources to support Izzy in any decisions she makes."
"I understand. I'll let Phillip know," Dane replied.
"Dane, thank you for driving me home."
"No problem, Izzy. Take a few days to rest at home."
After Dane left, Silas didn't ask Ines what happened. He just said, "Izzy, it's still early. You can go back to sleep. Don't worry about anything. You're home now."
‘You're home now.’
Those simple words warmed Ines' heart. "I know, Silas. But could you send someone to pick up the babies when it's light out? They're still breastfeeding and can't be without me."
Silas patted Ines' shoulder. "Don't worry. I'll personally pick them up once it's light out. I'll make sure they get to you safely."
With a nod, Ines went upstairs. Eda turned to Emma and said, "Emma, keep a close watch on Izzy's emotions during this period, and make sure she doesn't have any negative thoughts."
"Eda, you can relax. You know my sister's personality. She would never let that happen. Even after my divorce from Aiden, I didn't think that way, let alone her," Emma expressed her full trust in Ines.
Eda smiled and lightly patted Emma. "You've moved on, even able to joke about your past now."
"Actually, there's not that much that's hard to let go of. I just needed time. As time went on, I began to understand."
