Erica couldn't help but glare at Trenton, "You're just standing there, can't you stop her?"
"Izzy was determined. She was even willing to leave the babies behind for a while. How could I possibly stop her? I can't force her to stay against her will. Plus, Ethan agreed to let her go. Even if we kept her here, we wouldn't be able to solve the problem. They're the crux of the issue."
Although what her husband said made sense, Erica was still so frustrated that she stomped her foot, "I'm so done with you guys. Where on earth is she going at this ungodly hour?"
Phillip, hearing the commotion, also came out from his bedroom. He saw Ines with her suitcase ready to leave, "Izzy, where are you going at this hour? Did you have a fight with Ethan?"
Ines didn't say anything, she just silently stared at Phillip, and Phillip noticed that something was wrong with her expression. Besides having a fight with Ethan, he couldn't think of any other reason. Phillip fumed, "That bastard, did he do something to wrong you again? I'll give him a piece of my mind. I should have dealt with him seriously last time, not just let him off the hook. I swear I'm gonna break his legs this time."
Seeing Phillip's angry face and recalling how Ethan had been beaten before, Ines quickly put down her suitcase to stop him, "Grandpa, it's our issue. It's not a big deal. Please don't get angry, and don't punish him. We can handle it."
Phillip was still fuming, his rage unabated, "This isn't a big deal? You're upset enough to leave home. He must have done something wrong outside, hasn't he, Izzy? Tell me, does he have another woman?"
Phillip being so protective made Ines feel truly happy. But she didn't know how to explain this situation, and she couldn't hold back her tears.
"Izzy, don't cry. When you cry, I don't know what to do. You can tell me anything that's bothering you, but please don't cry in front of me." Phillip clumsily stroked Ines' hair.
Hearing this, Ines wiped away her tears and looked at Phillip seriously, "Grandpa, don't worry, it's not what you think. Ethan didn't have another woman. We just have some unresolved issues. I just need to clear my head, and then I'll seriously address the problems between Ethan and me. Your health isn't good, you should go back to bed and stop worrying about us."
"But where are you going?" Phillip patted Ines' hand for reassurance.
In order not to worry everyone, Ines told them her destination truthfully, "I'm going back to the Galeana family. Tomorrow I'll have someone pick up the babies and they'll stay with me for a while."
Knowing Ines' whereabouts, Phillip felt reassured and started to give in, "Alright then, go get a change of scenery. It's still dark out and there are no cabs around. I'll have someone drive you back. I'm still a bit worried about you being alone."
Ines nodded in gratitude when she realized Phillip was no longer trying to stop her, "Thank you for understanding, Grandpa."
"Izzy, no matter what, you're part of our family."
In the end, Ines still left. Erica, standing at the top of the stairs watching her leave, could only sigh in helplessness.
Phillip initially wanted to confront Ethan, but after some thought, he decided against it and went back to his bedroom. The loud slam of the door made it obvious that he was in a bad mood.
