Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 419

The group had just finished their breakfast when Camela and Eda descended the stairs, each carrying one of the little ones, Ivy and Ollie, who were both crying pitifully.

"Izzy, they're hungry," Camela said with a chuckle.

Ines put down her fork and knife, feeling torn. They were her children, and deciding who to feed first always meant letting the other one stay hungry for a bit longer. Before she could act, Ethan had swept Ollie into his arms. Ines smiled faintly and took Ivy, heading upstairs to nurse them.

Ollie, who had been crying with his mouth wide open, quieted down as Ethan soothed him. After a little while, the little tyke even started laughing. Ethan lifted him high above his head, causing Ollie to giggle more while kicking his little legs in excitement.

"Izzy, Ollie is going to be a brave man, look how fearless he is even at this age," Ethan said, tossing Ollie up in the air and catching him safely.

The sound of Ollie's laughter filled the room. Even Ivy, who had been nursing, seemed to be drawn to the sound, turning her little head to seek out her brother's laughter.

Ines tapped her daughter's head lightly, chiding her gently, "Olivia, focus on your meal, or I might start feeding your brother first."

Seemingly understanding her mother's words, Ivy quickly resumed nursing, as if afraid her brother would steal her food.

Ines caressed her daughter's cheek, then looked up at the playful father-son duo, and reminded Ethan, "Be careful, Ethan. Ollie's not even four months old yet. His body's still soft and fragile; he can't handle rough play."

"Don't worry, I've got him," Ethan reassured her and bent down to plant a kiss on Ollie's forehead.

Watching them, Ines couldn't help but smile. For some reason, children seemed to be drawn to Ethan. Even though she spent as much time with them, he seemed to be their favorite. A pang of jealousy struck her, and she pouted at Ethan. "Did you cast some sort of spell on them, Ethan? Why do they like you so much?"

Ethan chuckled. "You're overthinking, Izzy. It's just because I haven't seen them in two days, they miss me more."

"Ollie never laughs like this in my arms," Ines complained.

Ethan playfully teased, "When did you become so jealous? You were upset when I spent more time with the kids, and now you're upset cause they laugh more with me. Do you love me or the kids more?"

Camela, who had just arrived at the door, couldn't help but chuckle at their banter. "You guys are both so petty. All this jealousy over the kids' affection." Seeing the couple back to their usual playful selves, Camela felt a surge of happiness. She knew their squabbles wouldn't last, as they loved each other deeply. They were a couple who couldn't bear to see the other upset. Hence, nothing could ever truly come between them.

“Camela, I know you will be just and fair.” Ethan chuckled.

Ines rolled her eyes at Ethan, who was clearly trying to win Camela over. "By the way, the twins are due for their vaccines tomorrow. Maybe you could both accompany them. It's quite a sight. They laugh at the other kids crying, but when it's their turn, they're not afraid at all. They even grin at the doctor. They're so adorable that everyone can't help but praise them for their bravery. But once they're praised, they start crying. Both of them have the same adorable reaction."

"I guess we can't praise them then. I'll come along tomorrow," Ines said, laughing.

Ethan nodded in agreement. "I'll clear my schedule for tomorrow morning as well. I want to see how adorable my little ones can be."

With plenty of time left before their appointments, Ines and Ethan returned to the nursery after the twins had drifted off to sleep. Jasmine was there, feeding herself from a bottle while Eda watched over her.
