Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 431

Ethan was not sure when Ines could wake up, so he had drawn the curtains early in the morning, leaving only a sliver of light to peek through. He sat by Ines’ bedside, with her hand held tightly in his own, watching her every breath.

Phoebe, too, was locked in concentration. Her gaze was fixed on Ines.

One hour slipped into two, and by the time the clock struck six, the woman in the hospital bed began to move. Her eyelashes fluttered and her fingers twitched.

Ines felt a throbbing pain in her head. Images flooded her mind – memories of a man she had once loved deeply. She remembered laughing for him, crying for him. But he had loved another, so Ines had been forced to step aside.

She remembered marrying a man who, beneath his stern exterior, carried a wild streak. He loved to tease her, and yet he treated her so well that she often found herself overcome with emotion.

But most importantly, he was the one she had been chasing all along. Fate had brought them together, and he had proposed the moment they met. She knew he would come to love her; they had simply encountered each other at the wrong time.

Ethan expected Ines to open her eyes first, but instead, tears began to roll down her cheeks. He quickly reached out to wipe them away. “Izzy, don’t scare me,” he implored. “Open your eyes. Tell me where it hurts.”

Yes, it was that voice. She loved it dearly – its low, husky timbre quickened her heartbeat. The first thing she had fallen for was his voice; she always believed that a man with such a voice was trustworthy.

Now, he was her husband, and they were parents to adorable twins, Ivy and Ollie.

I Love You.

Her life was beautiful.

With this thought, Ines gently opened her eyes. The room was dim, so she couldn’t make out the face before her. But she knew it was him.

“Ethan,” she whispered.

Ethan choked back tears, and was overwhelmed by the joy of hearing his name from her lips again. “It’s me, Izzy. It’s me.”

“Ethan, I missed you,” Ines said. Her voice was raspy because she didn’t speak for a long time.

At this, she opened her arms and Ethan, without a moment’s hesitation, pulled her into his embrace.

When Phoebe made a move to approach them, Noel pulled her out of the room. In the corridor, Phoebe glared at Noel, who shrugged innocently. “Phoebe, you always accuse me of being clueless about romance. But this time, you’re the one who’s wrong. They’re having a heartfelt reunion. If we stay there, we will disturb them.”

Phoebe frowned when she heard Noel call her this name. “Stop calling me that. It gives me the chills.”

Noel grinned at her. “You’ll get used to it. Just like Ethan and Ines.”

After a while, Camela and Moria came out of the room, and each of them was carrying one of the twins. Everyone quietly left the room, leaving the couple alone.
