Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 471

Aaron cradled the cuddly baby in his arms, watching Ivy’s innocent and adorable appearance. How could he not be envious?

When facing Phillip, he didn’t hide his true feelings. After all, he and Ashley had to confront their situation someday. “I do have that urge, but I just haven’t found the right person. These things can’t be rushed.” Phillip shook his head. “I really don’t understand you young people. How is it that for so many years, you haven’t met someone you want to marry? Faith and I were already married at 24, and by 25, we had Trenton. Look at you guys now, in your mid-thirties and still single. It’s nerve-wracking for the family.”

“Grandpa, these things are unpredictable. The key is to find the right person. Like me and Ethan, I didn’t plan on getting married until I met him. When it’s time, things happen fast,” Ines chimed in.

“Alright, I’m old. My thinking is outdated. I won’t debate these matters of the love with you young ones,” sighed Phillip.

After chatting for a while in the living room, Ines noticed Aaron seemed to be distracted. She suggested to her grandfather, “Grandpa, I need to discuss some financial matters with Aaron. I’d like to go to the study with him.”

Phillip chuckled. “Go ahead. Aaron, stay for dinner tonight. No need to rush home.”

Aaron nodded politely. “Sure, Philip.”

Once upstairs, Ines saw no one around. She lowered her voice and said to Aaron, “Aaron, this is Ashley’s room. If you have something to say to her, go in. I’ll go to the study to avoid arousing any suspicion. I’ll call you if anything comes up.”

Aaron looked at the girl he once pursued. Time was indeed the best remedy. He had completely let go and truly saw her as a friend. “Thanks, Izzy.”

“You don’t have to be polite with me, Aaron. I was planning to talk to Ashley anyway. Now you’re here. I’ll leave her to you. Your words will definitely be more effective than mine. Go ahead and knock. I’ll keep watch at the staircase.” Ines stood at the staircase, observing the surroundings as she spoke.

Without hesitation, Aaron turned to knock on Ashley’s door. After a while, Ashley came to open it. Only after he was safely inside did Ines go to the study.

Inside the room, Ashley stared blankly at Aaron, seemingly not understanding why the man she had been thinking of suddenly appeared before her. After a long pause, she finally asked, “Aaron, why are you here? This is my room.”

Aaron glanced around her room. When she was little, he used to come quite often, but he hadn’t set foot in here since she grew up.

The layout of the room had changed entirely, decorated in a luxury style.

He noticed everything was neat and tidy, except for the bed. Ashley blushed and said, “Aaron, don’t look around. This is a girl’s boudoir.”

Aaron smirked. “Ashley, you should clean up your bed.”

Ashley pouted, and her eyes dimmed. “I don’t feel like cleaning up. Besides, grandpa and dad haven’t had time to check on me lately.”

Aaron knew about the Meyer family’s habit. Phillip was strict about cleanliness and didn’t tolerate any sloppiness.
