Ashley was at a loss. “That’s puzzling. How could she harbor so much resentment and grudge?”
Ines was equally bewildered. “Let it be, Ashley. We shouldn’t overthink it, and you don’t need to worry too much. Jacob and Ethan have prepared well. They will take action when it’s the right time. They just need to endure some hardship for now.”
Ashley sighed and crawled back under the covers. “Alright, let’s just go to sleep. Until my brother comes back, I am taking his spot. Hope you don’t mind, Ines.”
Ines chuckled. She didn’t mind at all. “No worries, it’s better to have someone to talk to and distract me from my thoughts.”
Ines was comforting Ashley, but Silvia’s obscure phone call had her mind in a whirl. However, she was so exhausted that she eventually drifted off to sleep.
Meanwhile, Silvia was in a constant state of distress. Each memory of her painful past was a torment, but with each torment, she became more alert, knowing what she truly wanted.
It was already eleven at night, but she wasn’t the least bit sleepy. Despite having skipped meals for a day, she didn’t feel hungry at all.
She got up from bed. Anne had been sleeping on the living room couch, and instantly woke up at the sound of footsteps. “Miss, you’re awake? Are you hungry? I can get you something to eat.”
Silvia shook her head, and looked around the room. Except for a few servants, she didn’t find anyone else. Russel was nowhere in sight. “Anne, has Russel not been back all day?”
“No, but the secretary did call to say that Mr. Russel had some important matters to handle and won’t be coming back for now. He asked us to take good care of you.” Silvia squinted her eyes. What kind of care? She doubted Matthew’s intentions. Although he always followed Russel’s orders, she, as an exceptional psychologist, could tell he probably didn’t like her.
He talked nicely, but it seemed more like he was keeping her captive, afraid that she would mess up their plans.
Russel hadn’t shown up since morning. He must have run into trouble. Their relationship being exposed could certainly damage his image.
Silvia continued to ask, “Anne, where are we?”
“This is one of Mr. Russel’s private properties.”
“I meant the address of this place.”
Anne hesitated before answering, “I’m not exactly sure. I haven’t been here before.”
That was a lie. Anne had driven her here yesterday, so there was no way she didn’t know where this was.
Silvia smirked sarcastically, went back to her room, and took out her phone to check the location. It showed Whiteside Town, which was a small town under A city, and two hours away from the city center.
As she suspected, this had been premeditated. Just as she was about to go online, her phone suddenly lost its signal.
