Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 477

Ethan often had to meet with clients, so he always kept a few sets of spare clothes in his office for such occasions. He could use it now.

Ines picked out a casual outfit and placed it outside the door. “Ethan, I’ve placed your clothes outside. Get dressed whenever you’re ready.”

“Got it.”

The sound that came from the bathroom was always more pleasant than usual. Ines, with a smile playing on her lips, walked over to the bookshelf, picked out a magazine, and began to read on the couch.

Ethan seemed to be taking an unusually long time in the shower. He usually only took a few minutes, but today it felt like he’d been in there for over ten minutes. And he didn’t seem to be coming out anytime soon.

Concerned, Ines walked over to the bathroom door and knocked. “Ethan, are you okay? You’ve been in there for a while.”

“I’m fine, Izzy. I’ll be out in a bit.”

Relieved, Ines returned to the couch. It was a while later when Ethan finally emerged. His chin was clean-shaven and he looked refreshed, which was a stark contrast to how he looked earlier.

Ethan walked over and pulled Ines into his arms. “Tell me, do I still smell strange?”

Ines, taken aback, realized that Ethan, a man with a certain degree of cleanliness obsession, must have been offended by her previous comment about his smell. It explained why he’d taken so long in the bathroom. She laughed, teasing him, “Ethan, are you being too sensitive? I made one comment and you spent forever in the shower. I’ve had my share of embarrassing moments, too. You always tease me about how obssessed I am, but I guess we’re not so different.”

Ethan didn’t respond. Ines held his face in her hands, looking deeply into his eyes. “Ethan, we’re married. I love you no matter what.”

“I know. I just didn’t want to ruin my image in your eyes.”

Ines chuckled. “Oh please, you’re Mr. Meyer in my heart, always standing tall and strong. A bit of scruffiness just makes you more manly. And with your handsome face, you could charm any girl. I know you’re confident about that. Ethan, remember, I always mean what I say. I’ve only ever said such things to you.”

Actions often speak louder than words.
