Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 482

“So what do you mean, Aiden? Don’t tell me you’ve only realized my worth after the divorce, regretted it and want to reconcile.”

Aiden was at a loss for words. He stuttered, and his gaze was fixed on Emma. However, even if he wanted to respond, Emma wouldn’t give him the chance. “I don’t believe a word you say. You just assume that even after our divorce, I should remain single for you. Is that why you’re so upset seeing me with another man? Because you think I, a woman you discarded, shouldn’t be living a better life without you? I’m not that cheap, Aiden. I was indeed in love with you during our marriage, but now, I’m busy. I’m busy earning a living for our daughter, busy seeking my own happiness. If you have an ounce of decency left, you should stay out of my life. You’ve lost the right to dictate it.”

Ines wanted to step in and help, but Ethan stopped her. He believed that this was a matter between Emma and Aiden. They needed to resolve themselves. Interfering now would only make things worse.

Seeing Emma’s fighting spirit, Ines was relieved.

Ethan held little Jasmine in his arms. The little girl always adored him and seemed unfazed by the adults arguing around her. Ethan planted a kiss on her little cheek and she instantly beamed.

Aiden, watching Emma, felt like he was looking at a stranger. He realized he never truly understood her. This fierce woman was who she really was.

His eyes welled up and his tone softened, almost pleading, “Emma, I didn’t mean it that way. Let’s find a place to talk. There are things I need to say.”

But Emma was no longer the woman she used to be and Aiden’s humble plea didn’t move her a bit. “I have nothing more to say to you, Aiden. You can visit my daughter anytime, but other than that, don’t interfere in my life.”

After saying that, she turned to find Gentry. “Gentry, do you want to go to the clinic? Your lip seems bruised.”

Gentry shook his head with a smile. “No need.” He pointed in Ethan and Ines’ direction.

Emma followed his gaze and spotted her daughter in Ethan’s arms. She smiled and walked over. “Ines, Ethan, what brings you here?”

The spectators dispersed as the drama seemed to be over.

Ines explained, “We brought the kids for some clothes shopping and thought we heard your voice, so we came over.”

Emma ruffled her hair. “Sorry for the scene.”

Ines glanced at Aiden, who was still standing nearby, seemingly lost. “We are family. It’s okay. But you shouldn’t hand Jasmine over to a stranger. It’s not safe. What if he was a bad guy?”

Emma looked at her daughter and felt a chill down her spine. “I was too agitated.”

“You need to prioritize Jasmine. She’s still so young and helpless. Let the men fight if they want to.”
