The heavy rain in the city had been pouring for several days. Ines couldn’t help but feel anxious, as if something was about to happen.
When Ethan walked in carrying Olivine, he saw Ines staring blankly out the window. Patting their little girl’s head, he said, “Ivy, call mommy.”
Ivy turned her head and let out a soft call to Ines, “Mommy.”
Ines turned around to see Ethan smiling, with Ivy grinning in his arms. She suddenly noticed that Ivy’s nose and mouth looked just like Ethan’s, which were extremely delicate.
Ivy kept calling out, but didn’t hear a response from Ines, which made her upset. She buried her face in Ethan’s shoulder, looking hurt.
Ethan chuckled and waved his hand in front of Ines. “Honey, snap out of it. Your daughter is about to cry if you don’t react.”
Hearing this, Ines finally realized what was happening and a wave of joy surged in her heart. She quickly scooped Ivy from Ethan’s arms and saw Ivy’s eyes were red and her mouth pouted, looking as if she was about to cry.
Even knowing Ivy might be pretending, Ines felt a pang in her heart and kissed Ivy’s rosy cheeks. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. Mommy is just so happy that my little girl can finally call me mommy.”
Ivy blinked at Ines while Ines’ forehead touched Ivy’s. Then Ines kissed her face. Ivy squirmed a bit perhaps out of ichiness. She wiggled so much that Ines almost dropped her, so she had to put her down on the bed.
Ethan watched them for a moment, and then went to check on Ollie in the nursery. He had just taught Ivy to call for her mommy and immediately brought her over, almost forgetting about their son.
After persuading Ivy to call “mommy” a few more times, Ines let her go. Ivy was having a blast rolling around on the big bed and nearly fell off, giving Ines quite a scare, but Ines was quick and managed to catch her in time.
“Sweetie, you scared mommy.”
Ivy seemed a bit scared as well, staring at Ines with wide eyes.
Ines gently pinched her tiny nose. “Baby, lie still. Don’t move around too much or you’ll fall off the bed.”
Ivy was calm at first, but after a few seconds, she started to slowly roll towards the edge of the bed again while glancing at Ines to make sure she was watching. Ivy found this to be a fun game and couldn’t stop playing, forcing Ines to keep a close eye on her and catch her each time she rolled off the bed.
“Haha. Haha.”
Ivy let out joyful laughter from time to time, and Ines felt incredibly fulfilled. She took off her shoes and joined Ivy on the bed.
When Ethan walked in with Ollie, he found Ines and Ivy playing. Their heads were close together. He couldn’t help but smile at the sight. “My precious girls, what are you two talking about?”
