Renee believed her son was the cream of the crop, and the position of 

lady of the Jamison family was something every woman in 

Greenburg coveted. Niamh’s words were a slap in the face to her 

arrogance. 

“You don‘ give a damn about being the lady of the household? Then, why are you with Castiel?” 

“He was the one who begged me to be with him. Don’t you remember? 

“Niamh Weaver!” Renee spat out. Niamh’s disrespectful attitude and sharp tongue left her speechless. she used to be able to vent her frustrations on her, but now, couldn’t even say a word. 

Niamh remained indifferent as she noticed Renee’s chest heaving with anger. “What exactly do you want from me?” The fact that she, had resorted to threatening her with Billie showed just how enraged 

she was that day. 

Renee whirled around and slammed a folder down in front of Niamh. 

Niamh arched an eyebrow but made no move to pick it up. “Tell me, what’s the deal with that land at Linden Grove?” 

“I’m sure you already know the answer to that question. Why are your asking me?” Niamh realized she had called her here to talk about.

It was no surprise the Jamisons had their eyes and ears in every aspect of their business, even with Castiel at the helm. Hence, whenever something went wrong within the company, they would be 

the first to hear about it. 

Therefore, Renee was furious because she had learned that the 

design draft Niamh and Blake had worked on together for Linden. 

Grove had caused Castiel to lose. 

Renee’s eyes were blazing with fury as she glared at Niamh. Without a word, she lunged forward and slapped her across the face. The sound of the slap was thunderous. 

Niamh couldn’t dodge in time; her head jerked to the side, and her blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. 

“Who do you think you are?” Renee roared into her ear. “How dare pull such a stunt?” 

Niamh fell silent.

“I don’t think much of you, but you’re still married to Castiel! How dare you team up with someone else? Are you trying to bring down our family?” 

Niamh remained silent. 

“Have you taken a good look at yourself? Do you really think those men outside would actually go all out for you?” Renee was livid, and her every word dripped with venom. 

Niamh closed her eyes for a moment, then reopened them to look at Renee with a gaze so cold it could freeze. Her expression was stripped of all derision. “Is this how you Jamisons treat one another?” 

Niamh believed that everyone was equal. Yet, in the many years she had spent at Jamison Manor, she had been subjected to countless 

such remarks. 

Before Simon came into her life, Renee had always made her feel inferior, and at that time, Niamh had even come to believe that she was truly unworthy of Castiel. 

After all, she was just an orphan with nothing to her name. How could she ever stand next to someone as remarkable and gifted as him?
