Meanwhile, Jasper was recuperating at a private villa in a nearby suburb. 

On that particular day, he had taken the medication, marking the conclusion of his first round of treatment. He was aware that Alyssa’s employees would deliver the medication for the second round 

later on. 

He believed Alyssa was only repaying him for his help, not doing it out of genuine affection for him. 

Throughout the day, he had experienced mild chest pains. To his surprise, a high fever struck him during 

the night. 

“Xavier? Xavier?” he croaked, his throat parched and sore, as he struggled to keep his eyes open. 

After a while, he remembered that he had sent Xavier on an errand to pick up some important documents 

from Beckett Group. Xavier was probably on the way right now. 

He managed to rise from the bed, only to discover that his sheets were soaked in sweat. His hair clung to 

his forehead, and his entire body was drenched, as if he had fallen into a pool. 

Changing into fresh pajamas, he went downstairs to get some water. The doorbell rang just then. 

Puzzled, he approached the intercom and turned on the video feed. When Alyssa’s radiant face appeared 

on the screen, his eyes brightened with excitement as his heart raced. 

“Jasper Beckett, I know you’re in there. Open the door,” she demanded, her gaze unwavering as she 

stared into the camera. 

He remained silent, his lips pressed together. 

Her anger flaring, she threatened, “Are you faking your death, or are you truly dead? Open the door now! If you want to draft a will, go ahead. If you don’t have one, I’ll come in and take care of your affairs.” 

Jasper coughed, taken aback by her words. 

Growing concerned, Alyssa began banging on the door, saying, “I see through your little game. If you 

refuse to open the door, I’ll just stay here until-

stood before her, smiling weakly but still managing to look good. 

He welcomed her, “Ms. Alyssa, it’s cold outside. Please come in.” 

It would hurt his heart to make her stand in the cold.

penetrating gaze on him. 

In a chilly tone, she continued, “You don’t have trustworthy people around you. It would be unwise to let 

go of Xavier. 

“Besides, there’s no point working for a loser like you. If you fire him, I’ll hire Xavier to work at KS Group. 

You’d better not cry over losing him.”
