“I was wrong for forcing you against your will. I won’t make you do anything that makes you uncomfortable,” Jasper announced. 

His pale complexion was strangely captivating, leaving Alyssa momentarily entranced.. 

Clearing her throat, she placed the medication on the table and rose. “These are the medications for your second round of treatment. Take them on time. I’m leaving.” 

Jasper shook his head and insisted, “No, please take them with you.” 

Frowning, she admonished him, “What are you thinking? Do you want to risk your life? You’re a rising star in the business world with a substantial net worth. Are you seriously throwing it all away?” 

“No. I just feel like you shouldn’t be indebted to me. I might have saved your life, but I did that because I 

was making up to you,” he explained, shaking his head once more. 

He added, “You don’t have to feel sorry for me, no matter how bad my state is. Besides, I’m much better 

now. I don’t need the medication.” 

Much better? Who was he trying to fool? 

She couldn’t contain her anger, and a wry smile crossed her lips. “Is this some new trick? Are you trying to 

make me chase after you by giving up on me? It might work in romantic dramas, but I’m not the ma 

character.” 

“I know,” he said with a bitter smile. 

“I’m not playing games. I genuinely have feelings for you. I truly don’t need these medications anymore.” 

His words left her conflicted. She retorted, “Well, if that’s the case, then I have nothing more to say. If you won’t accept my help, I won’t force my kindness on you. That would be shameless. 

“After you complete your first round of treatment, you can discontinue the routine. All medicine comes with some level of side effects. It’s not good to take them regularly anyway. Good luck.” 

With that, she planned to leave, but he stopped her. He said, “It’s not often that you visit. Since it’s chilly 

outside, why don’t you stay and have some hot tea? I’ll prepare it quickly.”
