Capturing the Millionaire’s Heart on Divorce Day novel Chapter 164

Chapter 0164

The announcement of Shihua’s dismissal stirred up a storm within the ranks of Mukino International.

Employees, too wary to gossip in company chat rooms, could only whisper among themselves in private.

“Hey, does anyone actually know what happened?”

“Just recently, wasn’t she rumored to be the big boss’s girlfriend? How did she get fired just like that?”

“Could it be a smokescreen?”

“But look at the severity of what’s written in the announcement. If it was just for show, they wouldn’t have gone so far. After this, no airline in the country is going to hire her.”

It was as good as destroying Shihua’s livelihood.

So what exactly had happened to provoke their President Grant to such fury?

While everyone had their theories, no one dared to discuss them openly.

And Mukino International’s announcement quickly drew the attention of every airline in the country.

Behind closed doors, many companies scrutinized Shihua’s credentials.

On paper, her resume was impeccable.

But a little probing into her character revealed she was currently detained at the police station!

Airlines were a tight-knit community; a little inquiry here and there, and the truth would emerge.

Yet, the information from Mukino International, the leading civil

aviation company, was airtight.

Madison only learned of Shihua’s firing when she received a

notification for a medical check-up, a tidbit she heard through Amelia

rather than Mukino International’s official F******k account.

“You fired Shihua?”

Ethan was busy tying his tie, nonchalant. “Hmm.”

Sensing his mood was somewhat subdued, Madison pondered for a moment before sidling up to him with a playful tilt of her head and a

coy smile. “Can you tell me why?”

The woman beside him always seemed so tender and dependent when she wasn’t commanding an aircraft, even when her uniform suggested authority.

Ethan was powerless against her charm and pulled her into his

embrace with one arm. “She was unstable. Keeping her around could have caused us a lot of trouble.”

“Your announcement might make it impossible for her to stay in the country,” Madison noted.

“Her fate is not my concern.”

Ethan pinched her earlobe. “Why are you worried about her?”

“I’m not worried about her.”

Madison wrapped her arms around his waist. “I was just thinking about what it takes for a pilot to go from learning to becoming a captain. It’s not a little bit of hard work.”

Ethan studied Madison’s expression and smiled.

He liked the kindness in the woman he loved, realizing he needed to protect her more fiercely; her nature made her an easy target for exploitation.

Thus, Ethan played the villain and recounted everything from the night it all began at the Grant family dinner, all the way to the hospital after being rammed by Shihua’s car.

He had intended to make Madison more realistic, to stop considering others so much.

But instead…

Ethan’s eyes widened in surprise at the woman before him whose complexion had dramatically changed.

“Crack!”

“Madison…”

Even the worldly Ethan, who had faced countless crises, was dumbfounded.

He watched in shock as blood appeared in Madison’s hand.

“Jessica!” His thunderous call echoed through the villa.

Jessica rushed in, breathless. “What’s wrong? What happened?!”

Her first thought at Ethan’s tone was that something had happen to Madison, and she was right.

Ethan was holding Madison’s wounded wrist, shaking off the shards of the glass toothbrush that had exploded in her grip. “Get the first aid kit, quick.”

He sat her down anxiously. “Why on earth were you crushing your toothbrush?”

Madison’s expression was blank. “Why didn’t you tell me that day?”

She had noticed the wound on Ethan’s forehead but had not imagined it was the result of Shihua’s crazed car ramming.

Just the thought of Shihua’s desperate, aggressive act against Ethan cracked the thick veneer of Madison’s rationality.

Jessica scrambled to retrieve the first aid kit.

Ethan knelt on one knee before her, tenderly tending to the cuts on

her hand.

“Call the medical check-up center and say Madison has to postpone for a couple of days.”

A hand injury would certainly disqualify her from flying, barring her from the evaluation and forcing her to wait until next year.

Under the current stringent global ranking system, unrated pilots were forbidden from captaining international flights and could at most

serve as co-pilots.

Madison took a deep breath to steady her emotions. “She and Lucas

are cut from the same cloth. If they don’t get their way, they lash out in desperation.”

“So we’re both unlucky in people?” Ethan joked.

Madison cast a cold glance his way, a reminder in her eyes. “You didn’t tell me your plan was to have dinner at the Grants’ with Shih

Ethan raised his hands in an oath. “Not only did you not know, I didn

either!”

The President of Mukino International was on his knee, swearing his truth to his girlfriend.

Jessica couldn’t bear to watch and quickly left the room.

“What’s going on? What’s happened?”

Amelia had been waiting anxiously for Jessica’s return.

Jessica pulled her downstairs, “The goddess is angry. She found out about Shihua ramming my brother’s car and got so upset she shattered her glass toothbrush. Her hand’s damaged.”

“Her hand is damaged?!” Amelia’s shriek was near breaking point.
