"Evangeline, don’t think like that," Suzy said, comforting Evangeline.
"Your kindness isn’t the problem—Serena’s lack of remorse is. Stop blaming yourself. Just leave her to me. I’ll handle everything. You just need to focus on getting better."
Evangeline nodded, tears streaming down her face.
"Suzy… thank you. Meeting you and your brother has been the greatest blessing of my life."
"Don’t say that. We're the lucky ones to have you in our family."
Suzy grabbed a tissue and gently wiped the tears from Evangeline’s cheeks.
"Now get some rest. Don’t think about anything else. My brother and I will take care of the rest."
She gave Evangeline’s hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Once all this is over, I’ll take you to Ashbourne City. It’s nothing like you remember—it's more beautiful than ever."
"Okay," Evangeline whispered, a faint smile finally breaking through her sadness.
After soothing Evangeline to sleep, Suzy left the room and headed straight to the prison.
There, she ordered the guards to bring out Serena, who was barely clinging to life.
Suzy dragged her out, and without a word, hauled her up the winding path to the highest peak in the region.
At the edge of a steep, unforgiving cliff, she shoved Serena down to her knees, positioning her just at the edge where the ground crumbled into the abyss below.
"Serena, I’m going to ask you one last time," Suzy said coldly, glancing briefly toward a faint glimmer in the distance.
"Was it you?"
"If I said I don’t know what you’re talking about a hundred times, would you finally believe me?" Serena’s voice was faint but defiant.
"I didn’t do anything. I don’t even know you."
"Fine." Suzy gave a sharp nod.
"Since you want to die with your lies, I’ll grant your wish."
She grabbed a fistful of Serena’s hair, yanking her forward until her torso dangled precariously over the cliff's edge.
"Did you really think your silence would save you?" Suzy’s voice dropped to a whisper.
"It doesn't matter what you say. I’ve already made up my mind. This was all you."
