Mrs. Stone’s face turned grim.

Moments later, a nurse stepped forward and pulled her away, allowing Karina to enter the hospital room.

Her eyes fell on the bed, and she froze. “Kieran, you’re awake?”

Karina stared at him, her face a mixture of surprise and confusion. It was baffling that no one in the hospital had mentioned he had regained consciousness, especially with nurses assigned to watch over him.

Wilfred’s expression grew colder as he glanced at the nurse behind him. “Who was on duty?”

The nurse lowered her head. “It was Mandy…”

“She’s fired. Tell her not to come back,” Wilfred said bluntly, leaving no room for discussion.

No one dared to speak up.

Kieran’s eyes flickered with panic but quickly settled into feigned composure. He sneered and turned the blame on her. “What are you doing here? Haven’t you done enough to ruin me? This is a hospital, Karina. Don’t do anything stupid.”

He shot a glance at Wilfred, his tone dripping with mockery. “If someone ends up dead, don’t think your little pretty boy will be able to protect you,” Kieran sneered.

Karina’s temper snapped. “Watch your mouth, Kieran. If you don’t know how to speak respectfully, I’d be happy to teach you.”

“Oh, so you’ve got the guts to talk back to me now? You’ve gotten bold, haven’t you?” Kieran said, his expression growing darker and more menacing.

Wilfred ignored the argument and instructed the nurses to prepare for the test.

Karina, not wanting to waste words, said coldly, “Get up. You’re taking the test.”

Naturally, Kieran refused, leaning back lazily. “And why should I cooperate? If you want me to take the test, fine—you’ll have to serve me. You’ve done it plenty of times when we were kids, haven’t you?”

Karina glared at him, her grip tightening on the test tube in her hand as she fought the urge to shove it down his throat.

Disgusted, she took a deep breath to calm herself.

Before she could react, Wilfred stepped forward, grabbing Kieran with a firm grip.
