The Night Before: 

“I can’t believe this is happening to me. I can’t believe my worst nightmare is finally turning into reality.” 

“Please stop sulking. We need to act fast.” Connie warned, taking a seat beside her daughter on the edge of the bed. 

“So all my efforts are in vain? Hailey is finally going to win against me?” She pointed to her chest, sniffling. 

Connie sighed deeply. “You’ve cried a lot already so please don’t even think of shedding any more tears for that slut. Like I said earlier, the battle isn’t over. She only has the upper hand for now. I am sad about this too but tears wouldn’t solve anything, sweetheart. We need to act fast.” 

“So what’s going to happen now? I am literally clueless. Where the hell am I to get 800? You and I know we won’t even make up to 100 if we sell everything we own.” Vanessa said, trying so hard to hold back her tears. 

“That bitch! I admit that she went steps ahead this time but she is definitely going to regret messing with us.” Connie assured. 

“I’m so ashamed, mama. What are we going to do? There is no way I am going to set my foot in court tomorrow. That is really bad for my reputation. What will the public say about me?” 

Connie shook her head. “You won’t have to appear in court. We will leave the city for now.” 

Vanessa frowned. “Leave for where? Come on, Mom, with which Money? You heard Dad. He said he is not going to support us.” 

“We are going to leave your Dad out of this and find a way to make this work. I already took some of your Dad’s money from the safe. It’s not much, just 200 thousand dollars. We need some more money so we are going to be comfortable. We need to go with our jewelry and bags too, just so we can sell them and get money if we ever get stranded.” 

“There’s no way I am selling any 

of my bags or necklaces.” 

“Come on Vanessa, don’t piss me off. Now is not the time to be stingy to yourself. You put yourself in this mess and I am willing to sell off my property but you are not thinking of doing the same!” 

“Please don’t make me sound like an ingrate. I appreciate that you are trying to help. But it is so hard to let go of everything.” 

“Okay, I see that you prefer to stay in jail.” 

“No mama,” Vanessa wiped tears off the corner of her eyes. “It’s just sad to see all of this happening. I can’t believe we are about to lose all 

that we’ve spent years of our lives building.” 

Connie shook her head. “This is a phase that is going to pass soon. The most important thing for now is to keep ourselves safe. We will go 

somewhere, stay on a low profile for a while, and then we will be back to strike at Hailey.” 

“Do you have anyone you can call for some money? We need as much as we can.“. 

“Why are you bringing this up, Mom? You commanded that I cut off ties with the men I sleep with and here you are, asking for some money.” 

“Yes. We need as much money as possible if we want to live comfortably. Well, I can cope with anything. It’s you who is having a baby that is going to lose.” 

Vanessa shook her head. “We won’t have to hide for that long, right? Cote has to be there when the child is born.” 

“Can you just leave Cole out of this for now and let us try to save our lives first? Who do you think you can call for money? We need as much

“Cole? Are you Okay?” Jessica’s voice came through on the phone. Since Cole still held onto his phone, the stranger heard, so he shrugged off the phone from Cole’s hand, letting it fall to the floor, the screen facing the ground. 

That gesture made Cole snap out of his shocked state. With all of his might, Cole pushed the familiar face off him. 

“Get off me, you sucker!!! How dare you come to my home, touch me, and talk trash about me?” Cole glared at him. 

Garry glared at Cole in return, this time around, standing at a distance, pointing at him. “I don’t care if you are some respectable person in this city. I may joke about everything but my flesh and blood. Where the hell did you keep Vanessa and my baby? What did you do to them?” 

“Just shut the fuck up, Garry, or I am going to sue you for your silly accusations! Why would you think I would hide Vanessa? What am I supposed to do with your baby?” 

Cole chuckled in disbelief, the conversation hitting him deeply. “So you’re the one she’s pregnant for? Where the hell were you when she was defaming me all over social media as the father of her kid?” 

“Don’t you dare twist this conversation by lying to me! Of course, I don’t do social media because I spend my time reasonably well by making money. And my close pals that are familiar with the media have no idea because Vanessa and I are secret fuck buddies!” 

“Aren’t you married?” Cole still continued to stare at Garry in disgust. 

“And what the hell does that have to do with you? I’m permitted to have as many wives and mistresses as possible as long as I’m able to take good care of them! I have never loved anyone the way I love Vanessa. Give her to me right now or I am going to ruin you” 

“And I will ruin you in return for making false accusations against me!” 

“What do you mean by false accusations? Don’t you dare play dumb with me, Cole? Vanessa called me last night. She said you threatened to harm her and my baby because she owed you some money. I sent her 1 million dollars so she could give you to stay the hell away from her but you still had the nerve to kidnap her?” 

Cole chuckled. “Your mistress just fucking duped you, bro!” 

Garry shook his head. “You are not going to escape this by feeding me with lies. 

“I have a wife I love so much and beautiful children. What do I need your mistress and your child for?”

“Vanessa defamed my wife and she was sued. She’s to pay a sum of 800 billion for damages but I guess she couldn’t afford it so she called you you, told you lies to get money so she could flee.” 

“The cops are actively searching for her so in case you can track her down, do well and turn her in.” 

Garry was speechless for a while, looking terrified as hell. 

“What? You don’t believe me? You have hundreds of men that work for you. Make them investigate this and you will realize your beloved mistress played you.”
