Chapter 819 Smug
After all, even though Emrys was a bit of a wild card, his luck was off the charts. Wasn’t he just like a legendary Destined One? Who knew if he might stumble upon some other great opportunity in the future?
It was better to make friends than to make enemies.
Upon hearing that Emrys was a cultivator at the Golden Elixir Stage, Cameron was taken aback. No wonder he had felt an overwhelming aura emanating from Emrys before their duel.
The sheer intensity of his aura had left Cameron utterly intimidated, too fearful to challenge him in combat again. This set the stage for the subsequent test of courage.
He finally understood the words Emrys had spoken before – that as long as he agreed, Sylvia would have to marry him – wasn’t just an unfounded boast.
A social climber like Ameera would undoubtedly be eager to marry off both her daughters to such a young Golden Elixir Stage cultivator.
Befriending Emrys was indeed worthwhile.
This was the thought that had just flashed through Cameron’s mind in that instant.
But in the next moment, when Emrys announced that his golden elixir field was shattered, Cameron wondered if there was still a necessity for this alliance.
There was an inherent understanding within the cultivators that once one’s golden elixir field was shattered, the prospect of re–cultivating it was nearly impossible.
In other words, Emrys was ruined.
Of course, it couldn’t be said that he was entirely ruined. Cameron was tunclear about the condition of Emrys‘ elixir field. If his elixir field was also destroyed, it would mean even his foundation was shattered, leaving him utterly incapable of further cultivation.
If only his golden elixir field was shattered but his elixir field remained intact, then his power would diminish to the level of someone in the Foundation Stage.
Regardless of the circumstances, the current Emrys was no longer worth befriending.
Thus, even though Cameron had initially approached Emrys with the intention of making

amends, his thoughts abruptly shifted when he got closer. With a sarcastic tone, he said, “So, you’re in the Golden Elixir Stage, huh? You sure were awe–inspiring just now!”
He deliberately emphasized the words “Golden Elixir Stage,” all in an effort to provoke Emrys.
Emrys couldn’t even be bothered to give him the time of day.
Cameron, however, was not satisfied and continued, “It’s quite normal for such a young Golden Elixir Stage cultivator to be arrogant, but one must always be aware of the extent of their abilities. Walking into a lion’s den is clearly something only a fool would do.”
He was mocking Emrys for wanting to show off and deliberately running into the mist, resulting in the shattering of his golden clixir field.
Hollie frowned, softly reprimanding, “Cameron, hold your tongue. Emrys is already having a tough time since his golden elixir field has shattered. You’re just adding insult to injury!”
“Heh, I was merely stating a fact. What does whether he’s upset or not have to do with me? Besides, look at him. Does he seem the least bit upset to you?”
Hollie glanced at Emrys, falling into silence.
Indeed, she hadn’t seen a trace of sadness on Emrys‘ face. She thought he was truly overly optimistic.
“My friend, if only you had taken my advice earlier. If you had turned back at the edge of the fifth layer, treating it as a draw, how could such a thing have happened? The price you paid for this moment of glory was far too high. It truly breaks my heart to see you like this!” Cameron continued to mock.
Clutching his chest, he feigned a look of heartache, yet his expression was clearly smug.
