Claimed By The Lycan King (Kaia) novel Chapter 145

Chapter 145

Kieran's POV

I turned back to Gerald, now, even more determined as I couldn't wait to find out what Kaia wanted to tell me. “I'm listening." I said, referring to the question I asked him.

“All I know is that the Alpha of their Pack knew something he shouldn't and in order to silence him, rogues were sent to their Pack, catching them unaware." He said, “but I had nothing to do with it." He insisted.

“By their Alpha, you mean Alpha Marcus?" Caleb asked. My brows furrowed, everyone knew he was the Alpha and there was no need dwelling on that.

But Gerald shook his head, “Alpha Marcus is the twin brother of the real Alpha." He said, “Alpha Matthew is the elder twin which makes him the rightful heir to the throne."

I messaged my temple gently, if this was true, we were years away from finding Kaia's biological parents. I wanted to ask how he knew all of this, something even my Dad as an Alpha didn't know…or probably because I didn't ask.

Caleb had suddenly gone silent, like he was recalling something. That wasn't new, as my Beta, he had gone through as many records as me, so it wouldn't come as a surprise if he had seen something related to that and was trying to remember where.

Now, to the most important question, because now that we have a little bit of concrete information, it shouldn't be hard to actually find something that would be useful.

“Where's Felix and your mate?"

His head, which had been done all the while when he spoke, suddenly jerked upward, his eyes widening. “I don't know where she is."

King let out a growl, not pleased with the answer, “You better not fucking lie to me!" He said, coming to the surface.

"I-I s-swear, I don't know.”

About an hour later, we were done with him, the guilt on his face when he realized he had spilled his guts was oddly satisfying. I ordered the guards to inform me if anyone even attempted to come close…especially in the guise of what happened the last time.

The next place I went to was my mom's cell. She was a shadow of the powerful woman I used to know. She now looked unkempt and lean, her eyes which used to hold authority, were empty…dead.

“She hasn't spoken a word since we kept her here.” Caleb said, “I doubt we would be able to get anything out of her when she's like this." He added.

Upon seeing me, she didn't even move to say anything. Since she was brought in, this would be the first time I was coming to see her…and I'm wasn't sure I felt bad about it…maybe pity, but that was about that.

We went back to the office, where I mind-linked Ryder, who was on patrol duty.

“Alpha," he called.

“Mobilize the warriors to search the abandoned buildings and cabins, outside the southern border." I ordered, “I need the report today."

“Yes, Alpha."

Without asking questions, he left, leaving myself and Caleb alone. He still had a lost look on his face causing me to raise my brows. “What's going on?" I asked him.

“I don't know, I just feel this uneasiness within me but–” He was cut midway when the door swung open, revealing a frowning Kaia, her arms crossed in front of her, resting on her protruding belly.

“Fuck!" I groaned, standing up to meet her. “I'm so sorry, Bella. I was going to round up here and then come to you, so I wouldn't be distracted when I'm with you."

She pouted her lips and fuck did she look adorable! “I was going to tell you then, but I don't think it matters anymore."
